I assume you mean flash trigger. Most people shop on eBay.

>>do i need one for the camera and the externall flash ?
Yes. A transmitter on the camera and a receiver on the flash.

The Canon 60D pop-up flash has a commander mode for e-TTL, which requires line of sight and is a completely different approach to triggering flashes in manual mode - that's what the Cactus will do.

You can only have a transmitter and flashgun ON the camera if you transmitter has another hotshoe on top and passes a triggering signal through. Not sure if the Cactus does that. Notwithstanding, the internal pop-up flash will probably be physically blocked by whatever transmitter is put into the hotshoe.

I recommend you read up on the different ways on how to trigger you flashes off camera. Good place to start is http://strobist.blogspot.com - go to lighting 101

cheers - but if i have the transceivor on my 430 exii - will my intergrated wireless flash will that trigger the flash ?

Transceiver on your flash will work as a receiver, but it will not receive a signal from your integrated system in the camera. You either use transmitter - receiver option OR integrated canon system.

That's not quite right

On the 60D the integrated flash will control off camera Canon speedlites in full E-TTL II and full Manual wirelessly, you also have the choice to have the integrated flash fire or not during the exposure. This is done using rapid pluses of light (too fast to see) and has to be more or less line of sight. So you will not need to buy anything extra to trigger your 430EX II the 60D will do it just fine on it's own

If you want to have a speedlite mounted on the camera AND fire some others at the same time, you have two choices.

A) the on camera speedlite has to be able to work as a master (580EX) this will then also control your slave speedlites such as the 430EX

B) you can use a third party trigger system such as the Cactus v5 to fire any speedlite ( in manual flash setting only)

Jumping up in price you have the ETTL third party triggers from the likes of pocket wizard, or if you really want to splash out there is the ultimate speedlite system for canon the 600 EX RT and ST-E3-RT

So basically if im doing portraits and stuff my 60d will triger the 430exii on it own ? No third party good ?

Yes. 60D will also trigger E-TTL slave-enabled third party guns.

My two penneth.

I've used V5s for a while now. They are ok, but I have found -

1. Battery door / compartment can sometimes refuse to close
2. Using AAA's is a pain. I only want to us AAs
3. I originally had 4 units, but now one has gone bang

For those reasons I now only use V5s as backups.

Good luck.

Cheers.
