More of a rant than anything - Im not having much luck with triggers lately...

Used some cheap ones last week which let me down probably due to batteries failing as already discussed in another thread on here.

Now last night I set up to take some product shots with the Cactus V4s as triggers and they refused to even slightly work! Test lights not working on either the receiver or the transmitter no matter what setting I put them on...

Bought them when they were first released and worked straight out of the box no problem, haven't used them since and now they don't work...great...

Off to find a new battery for the transmitter in the hope thats the problem but I've got my doubts!

Grr...mumble mumble mumble....

you did remember to switch the receiver(s) on
I always forget
and have to take the flash gun off to get to the switch!:bang:

Yes and yes...

Should the transmitter flash even if it can't find a receiver on the same channel?

Not turning it on does seem like something I'd do mind...

yup, mine does even with receiver switched off
if your's doesn't, then the hamster is no more

The battery in the transmitter shouldn't need replacing, but if the V4 is anything like the V2s then the transmitter can pack up without warning.

Have you tried hitting it? That usually does the trick with electrical things and Austin 1100s

emma?

I had nightmares with mine also - my Skyports going up for sale now as I've moved to Nikon CLS....

Looks like its dead then...Skyports here I come!!

Anyone want a V4 receiver? May or may not work....:D

if you're serious I'll save you a trip to the skip

May as well, its no use to me without the transmitter!

Send me a pm with your address and I'll stick in the post...

amazingly enough - you have a PM!

You'll be back

You know something I don't? C'mon, spill the beans...

I'm sure it'll do what I need it to do... (I hope).

I was going to keep the Skyports, but ordered 2 x SB600's then found out that apparently they have no PC sync sockets, so that scuppered that idea...

Naww, CLS is just a bit limited, but it depends what you're using it for.

To use the Skyports with the SB-600s all you need is a couple of hotshoe/pc adapters and the matching cables, they're under a tenner each (a fiver for the cables) from Colinsfoto on Ebay.....

Damn, I had the hotshoe/PC adaptors and sold them with my eBay triggers... :D
