Im after some advice on a lens. I need to beable to see a pin head clearly from about 30 - 40cm away. Can anyone suggest anything for me?

I am on i tight budget and I'm a total noob

Welcome to TP. We're going to need some more information though, if we're going to be able to help you.

What kind of camera?

When you say pin head, what kind of pin? Drawing pin (~10mm)? Map pin (~4mm)? Sewing pin (~1mm)? And when you say you want to "see it clearly", what does that mean? How big in the frame do you want it to be?
 
Ooh, totally out of my depth I'm afraid. Hopefully somebody else here knows a bit about CCTV equipment....
