I've been looking for scanners on eBay. The last two Epson 4490s I've bid on have gone to £90+ (£30 more than I was prepared to pay). The v500s I've seen go for £110 up to £140. Given that a new v550 is £180, I'm finding these prices a little rich.

Does anyone have any sources for scanners that isn't eBay?

Gumtree or boot sales....I bought a 2480 for £8 and V750 boxed for £90 off gumtree and 4180 for £2 (no power supply but I had a spare) at a boot sale...but bought the scanners off gumtree about 3 years ago and would think because of more interest in negs now, bargains are harder to find.

I agree with this, but would also add preloved.co.uk, which is where I got my Epson 4490 for an absolute steal. The site is fairly similar to Gumtree.

Cheers, both. Hadn't thought of Gumtree, hadn't heard of Preloved!

bought my 4490 on here for £65 delivered right price right time

I trawled carboots for a while and found a lot of stuff that was almost suitable! Gumtree in the end proved to do the trick for me, but a friend of mine managed to pick up an old v500 from a local freecycle group!

I just bought a V500 Epson from PC World for £69 last weekend - brand new, boxed, sealed.
From an actual shop, I take it, Andy? MIght have to go into my local to see what they have.

Yes thats right, I couldn't believe it, so had to buy it straight away. I think they had a couple of V600's for around £190 and a couple of the V500's for £69.
