ok

sometimes something comes up for sale on here that i would be interested in.

how do i pay by paypal ot bank transfer.?

thanks in advance

Paypal - set up a Paypal account (usually takes a few days for them to verification checks I think)

Bank Tranfer - get the recipients bank details and go online, telephone or go into your bank to transfer the funds.

oh ok im a bit scared of bank details ect, a shame seen some interesting stuff for sale.

Do you think they would accept a cheque?

I suppose some would and some wouldnt.

thanks for the quick reply

Internet banking takes only a few minutes to be set up and working. ;)

I think most people would accept a cheque, but hold onto the goods until it's cleared - bit of a PITA all round.

You don't give your bank details you transfer money to theirs.

Hi Jo,

It can always be a bit of a worry, but is no riskier than handing your card over to restaurant staff when it's time to pay the bill.

But there are a few forum rules/guidelines to help safeguard our purchases on TP such as exchanging phone/address details prior to sale. People selling items must have made 100+ posts and been a member for a certain amount of time before they can post in the FS forum. I.e. they're not here to make a quick sale and do a runner.

And for added peace of mind, you can set up an account for internet trades so that you are not divulging your primary account details. For example, I have my main current account. I have a second account for internet trades. If I'm selling anything and have to give my bank details out for them to make a payment - it is this second (trading) account which gets used. Typically, it will have very little funds in it. Once the trade is complete and the money is in your trading account, you quickly transfer the funds to your primary account. it helps if they are both with the same bank as you can do it online and the transfer is immediate.

Therefore, even in the unlikely event that it does get compromised, there's nothing there for anyone to take. I hope that helps a bit.

another thing to look out for is the i trader system to tell you if the seller is anygood read the comments etc this can be found on the left hand sid of this psot and the number next to i trader click the number but this doesnt normally mean that the person is not good its a bit like feedback on e bay but most members on here are good and will help you as much as you can if in doubt have a quick word with a regualr on here or send a TP mod a quick line and ask them im sure they will be willing to help you out
