Have to say I would never ever make any further purchases with Amazon. Twice now the goods advertised, which I purchased, failed to make clear what the products were about in the headings or consequent writeups. For example

WINDOWS XP Pro - 1PK - SP3 (PC CD)
by Microsoft OEM Licence

This would lead you to believe it was the complete program or at least it did to me. Its not unless you look very very closely on the actual product cover picture on Amazon you can faintly read its for update for refurbished pc's.

The other case was for a grass strimmer head again with misleading information. this was some time ago.

Here is a typical example

http://www.amazon.co.uk/WINDOWS-XP-Pro-1PK-SP3/dp/B0018RCAD4/ref=pd_cp_sw_h__1

In the heading it clearly states FULL Version but if you look on the cover it says for refurbished PC,s
How much more misleading can you get than that.

Did you purchase from Amazon themselves, or one of the market place sellers?
NEVER, ever had any problems with Amazon, when I did have a problem with one of the MP sellers, (once) Amazon sorted it out pretty quickly.
Send them an email, see if they can help, explain what happened and voice your concerns.

Confused are you talking about Amazon or Ebay

I would have said you are very safe buying from Amazon or Amazon Marketplace (or Ebay for that matter) as with the A to Z guarantee they will find in favour of the buyer if you are in the right. I've never had a problem with Ebay either when things go wrong with purchases.

Carlos I have corrected the link thanks for pointing it out, here again it is advertised exactly the same as on e-bay.
Taz the problem as I see it is both Amazon and e-bay are only interested in selling the products without properly checking out the descriptions first and this is their downfall.

WINDOWS XP Pro - 1PK - SP3 (PC CD) by Microsoft OEM Licence (Windows 2000 / XP)
£39.99 so how would you read that? I expect the same as me, that it was the full program bearing in mind that the price reflects that the operating system has been superceeded by first Vista then Windows7 and now shortly by Windows 8

I would personally send Amazon an email expressing your concerns.

In my experience, Amazon customer services are pretty prompt in replying and really helpful in dealing with any queries/concerns you have.

It's in the title SERVICE PACK 3
On Amazon look just above Tag Customers line near end of description.
Compatible with XP etc.
At least that's how I read it.

All MS software says SP1, 2 or 3 depending how recent it is, so that has no baring.

Reading some of the revues on Amazon it looks like a few people have been caught out, i don't know why Amazon allow these seller as it must be doing there reputation no good.

Are you seriously suggesting that Amazon and Ebay should vet every single one of the listing on their sites for accuracy?
