Hi I am looking at buying a camera body new off ebay rather than Jessops as there is a considerable difference in price.
Would anyone advise against dong this and how would I stand with Canon if the camera developed a fault?
thanks.

If its a Canon your after then the best bet is from Kerso (TP member) he also has a ebay account - but being a Nikon user I dont know it...

No doubt someone (Canon user) will know his account....

edit:

Flashcamera.co.uk is his online website & this is his ebay site flashcamera

If he hasn't got wha your after then drop him a line as he MAY be able to help you out....

If its new and considerably cheaper, then its grey market. That in itself is not the end of the world, but I would only buy such items from certain sellers.
Who is the seller you are looking at?

thing is though, you can probably get one outside of ebay for cheaper. If you give details of what you're after i'm sure you can be pointed in the right direction.

Camerapricebuster is a good starting point

Thanks for the reply.
I think Im after a Canon 600d and want to put a 35mm f2 prime lens on it.
Naturally if there is something better I can get for my money please do inform me.
I would prefer new though.
My budget is around £800
thanks

hdewcameras.co.uk i ordered a lens from them and they are spot on, they are grey imports but exactly the same anyway

To be fair, if you only think you want a 600D how can we give you advice.

There will be better if you have the money, but that depends on what you want to spend and the type of photography you want to engage in

Could you perhaps give some more details such as why you want a 35mm f/2 prime?

People here are always keen to help, but this type of query doesn't help anyone least of all you.

Think you probably already know the answer about Ebay and risk when compared to a high st shop

to be honest...i'd be tempted to go for a Pentax K5 and 35mm f2.4 for a shade over £800 (but then i'm biased)

Hi tijuana taxi I want a 35mm prime as I want to create some bokeh style pics and want to work on that lens length for a bit and use my legs rather than a zoom to create a more intimate feel.
I was going to go with a Fuji x 100 as I like the retro style pics and tones it takes but went off this idea as I want some flexibility once the novelty wears off.
As I would need to edit pics in photoshop I could probably create similar retro style pics anyway.
Im not stuck on the Canon 600d either.
thanks.

Can you tell me why you would be tempted please?

I'm a Pentax user already with the K7 (the K5's older sibling), but the K5 uses the same sensor as in the Nikon D7000, so has outstanding high ISO capibility, it's also fully weather sealed and solid as a rock, with inbuilt sensor cleaning and Image stabilisation. The only downside might be the range of Pentax lenses is nowhere near as substantial as Canons (but i have owned the 35mm f2.4 and for £129 new its awesome)
