I am thinking of purchasing a base unit from a company called Palicomp , Has anybody had dealings with them ?
Would also be interested in hearing about any good recomendations of alternative suppliers .Thanks

Steer clear, they used to sell on ebay and had such a bad rep that they deleted their own account and started up again as megapc, again crappy rep and in the end Ebay binned them.

Cheap but naff components, avoid.

Take a look at a Dell Studio XPS 8000 OR 8100 from the ebay resellers, seriously good spec and value, most have 3 year warranties as well.
 
Also suggest you have a look at specialist PC makers, eg

Novatech, ebuyer, Scan, Overclockers and PCSpecialist

From any of these you could get a fair bit for your budget.

I have not used PCSpecialist, but have bought lots of componeents from the other three with no problems at all.
