Yes
My wife wants a new compact for around £150-£175and we have been having a look at the options, but there are SO many:eek:

the one that has taken my eye is the Sony CYBER-SHOT W50 as it has a 2.5" screen on the back. But having a look round this morning, loads do. If fact, there are hundreds of models all doing the same thing for a variety of prices and we have got ourselves very confused.

I have the canon 350d and love it, so looked at the canon range and saw theCanon Digital IXUS 55 which looks nice too.

Does anyne here have any sugestions about these or any other one?

cheers in advance guys :D

Same problem here :(

She wants a camera that is small to go in a bag or pocket.....as much optical zoom as possible (+image stabiliser!).... and good in low light - fast/low noise.

I've said I'll let her know when one is developed and put on the market with that spec.

Robert

just saw this on Jessops site, its their deal of the day:
http://Finepix-F11-Zoom

online price £149.99 down from their instore price £259.99!! the cheapest it is on ebay is £153 from HK. So decided it was a bargin

I rang my local store and they wont price match their own site:razz: so ordered it online. should turn up tuesday:D

I liked the fact that the new fuji range have an ISO of 1600.

Depends on exactly how much manual control you want but I've just picked up Curry's sale special offer of a Samsung S600 for £99.99. Seems fine so far - I was simply looking for something with a little more manual control than the other half's naff Olympus C310 that was small and light enough to carry about in a pocket. 6mp, the option of manual control opr pre-set image styles (or something in between) but no viewfinder, which I dislike I must admit.

And it is quite usable at that setting according to dpreview user opinions.

There are a couple of sites with that price so I'll wait for your review before suggesting it :) . She wants it mainly for taking pictures at concerts where the lighting is often none too bright.

I dont think my wife will be too bothered about manual. She just wants a quick, pocket size point and shoot, I didnt even look about the manual control options:bang: . she can always borrow the 350d for anything more creative.

Pity it has to be really small coz argos is doing a great deal on the Powershot A610. Got it for wife as a replacement to a nicked camera. Had been looking about for this one and cheapest online I had found was 155. Argos selling it for 140 so the extra 15 quid saved got me a 1gb 133x sd card from my memory.

I have just bough the Sony T9 for £201 from amazon including postage. I haven't had a chance to play with it properly but it looks fantastic, has anti shake mechanism and the ISO goes up to 680. It is also very small. All in all a perfect camera to take in your pockets for nights out. £26 over budget though...
