I've always read the target price in what car, but thought it took a lot of work to achieve. The last car I purchased I paid the list price (silly me).

Picked up a Citroen Grand Picasso today. Got it down from £26,000 to £23,000 and also got an additional £1000 against my trade in.

It didn't take much, but I am very happy, as is my wife with her new toy :)

Always worth pushing them down (y)

PS My wife drives one. Not a huge problem in Scotland but I have to be mindful of the sun on the top of my head ;)

ALWAYS haggle! Never tell the salesman what you have to spend, or say you love the car you're viewing, always act disinterested.

When I change motors I have to take my moneyboss, she drives it as much as I do so she has to be fairly happy  , & we both started years ago by using a 1 - 10 code between ourselves of how interested we were, so anyone/salesman didn't cotton on to how interested we were.

Start with a low offer & move up slightly, maybe a couple of times before saying you're at your limit & leaving the showroom. They WILL ring you if they can do the deal. If they don't ring your offer is too low.

It doesn't really matter what the list/window price is, OR what figure they offer for yours, the only figure that counts is `price to change`.
