Hi all

Not yet fully made my mind up but.......................as I usually prefer to click & collect delicate, larger and heavier items :) Though with a monitor and Covid19 not withstanding, there are only few suppliers of the likes of BenQ and though they will deliver I am hesitant as to trusting a courier company to "look after it in transit..."

I surmise I am being over cautious, hence the question ;)

These items come in sizeable boxes and AFAIK typically with manufacturer tamper evident seals, therefore what was your experience:-

a) Was the box in a larger and internally padded(?) box?
b) was it in a wrap of some sort (big courier envelope?)
c) as the manufacturer supplied but with the address labelling stuck to the box?

What was the box condition upon receipt (including the seals) and did it give you any cause for concern?

TIA :)

I've probably bought between twelve and fifteen monitors on-line over the last twenty years without any delivery problems.

They tend to be well padded/protected IME.

Every monitor I've ordered online has always come in its own branded box with an address label on, same with laptops. I've probably had one box with a corner dent where it's been dropped and one where it looks like it's had something dropped on it but I've not had any concerns with packaging.

The best way to tell if it's been a customer return/open box is to check for greasy fingerprint marks around the plastics (or on the screen itself if they are that careless). Don't think I've ever bought a monitor from a shop, always online.

Stuff like monitors tends to come in well padded boxes, within larger, padded boxes, ime. Sometimes with large manufacturers' logos all over them, advertising your new expensive thing to anyone who might be interested, and making it a bit unsafe to leave in a 'safe place'. So you need to be in to receive it. Which is a lot of fun, especially when UPS claim that you're not in, for the third time that week, despite no card left and the fact you've actually videoed their van driving past your house, without stopping. Yes. Followed moments later by the 'customer not in, card left' message on the online tracking system. And the ensuing frolics as they then try to deny all this, and basically accuse you of lying (in spite of having been sent said evidence), then try to charge your for a rescheduled delivery. Because they've 'attempted' delivery three times now. Three times you've actually been at home ALL f*****g DAY.

And breathe.

Sorry; what was the question?

Thanks guys for the insights........................so in the main 'nothing to be too concerned about' i.e. play it by ear and act if required ;)

@AZ6 re: UPS ~ in the main, of the few UPS deliveries we have had the parcels arrived in sound condition and the tracking & delivery attempt was properly executed :)

PS we did have one 'damaged' box that thankfully the contents were unaffected ~ the outer looked like it had been stored in a warehouse in transit that had a leaking roof and pigeons in residence :(

All consumer electronics comes packaged to protect it against the supply chain. They managed to deliver my 55" TV without bending it.

I have a 32 inch Benq :) Came in manufacturer's box and arrived in perfect condition. Obviously if the box had been bashed I would have checked before signing but it appears their packaging is up to the job.

This. Often it will have already travelled from the factory to the distributor, so they're usually very well packed. Got my BenQ from Amazon and it was fine. The Dell prior to that "jangled" when it arrived and looked like it had been kicked from China to my house. I just refused delivery and rang Amazon straight away. They had another one with me (minus jangling) the following day.

For all the negatives towards Amazon, if I've ever had a problem with damaged goods (which isn't often!) they sort it no quibble, no fuss.

Thanks again for the added, reassuring, insights :)

I will likely buy from WEX and they use, as far as I have been made aware, Parcel Force!

Every monitor I have bought has had the box opened and resealed. Thats because I always opt for the checking service. You would be surprised how many dead pixels manufacturers deem as ok and "in spec". I hate dead pixels.
