Buying 127 film

Mornin' all :)

I recently picked up a poor condition Brownie Reflex at a car boot sale and I really fancy putting some B&W film through it, partly out of curiosity to see if it still works, but also because for some reason the idea of getting a camera that’s been neglected for the last couple decades and making it take photos again makes me strangely happy lol.

I’ve looked online for quite a bit and haven’t really had much luck finding 127 film. It seems that the last manufacturers of 127 has gone, and it’s a choice of buying the remaining stock of existing Efke film off ebay (like this one), or buying from Retro Photo Supplies which seems to cut 120 film down to 127 and sell it. I’m a little wary of buying from eBay as it’s all overseas (Croatia and Israel seem common) and I don’t want to get stung somehow importing it.

If the camera does work then I’m planning on bodging... uh, using it with some 35mm film, but I need to use a roll of 127 first as I currently only have one spool (the 127 spools are available on eBay, but I'm too curious not to try using actual 127 film...)

Does anyone know of another place where I can pick up 127 film, or have any experience with buying 127 from eBay or Retro Film Supplies?

If I managed to shoot some I then need to develop it... But that's a problem for another time and another thread :D

Cheers!

I think Carol (@Crtm ) did something similar recently and got film from the link above.

Hi @Carl Hall, @Andysnap is absolutely correct I did purchase 127 film from the link above there is however a catch as your minimum order is 40 euros which is fine if you want 4 rolls of 127 or you need to purchase other items. Your order will take about a week to arrive, I experienced no problems whatsoever using this site. I do have a spare spindle if you want me to send you one so you can sacrifice a roll of 35mm film to see if your old camera still has life. I would most definitely do this before you put a roll of 127 through it, at just over 9 euros for 8 frames its not exactly cheap. I have three rolls of 127 film here if you would like one and don't want to buy 40 euros worth of goods.

Just let me know.

Hi Carol,

If you'd be willing to sell me a roll of 127 and also an additional empty spool then that would be fantastic, thank you. Then I can try and put some cheapy 35mm film through it first to see if it works, then try some 127 on it.

Thanks!

PM me your address and I will send it.

Ok, I'll PM you now. If you let me know how much you'd like for it I'll send the payment over right away.

Do we need to create a thread in the "for sale" section so that we don't break the forum rules or anything?

I've bought from Retro Photo Supplies several times and found them to be quick and reliable.

I dont know too much about the buying procedures, I think perhaps we should start a thread just to keep it all above board. Can someone keep us right please......

yep sort out a thread in classifieds as funds are going to be transfered

Guy's please use the classified section for buying and selling.
It's actually not permitted elsewhere.

Besides you won't be able to leave each other feed back otherwise ;)

Thanks :)

Edit if you are not sure where @Crtm Carol
there is a film and conventional classified section here

Ahh yeah, I thought that was the case. Cheers guys! We're going to create a thread in the film part of the for sale area to keep it all hunky dory :)
