Buyacamera.co.uk ? anybody use these?

Never used them but a few positives:

UK Domain, properly registered with WHOIS data.
UK phone number.
Ltd Co in whois data exists but appears to be newly trading (no accounts filed yet).

This company is linked (via its directors) to: http://www.wildingsonline.co.uk/ which have been trading for some time which backs up their website claim on the "about us" page of "Buyacamera is the online trading division of one of the UK's leading independent photo retail groups.".

If you are still concerned give them a call.

I bought an EF-S 55-250 IS and a 430EX II from them at the beginning of the year, coz they were cheaper than everyone else. Stuff came promptly with free postage. Had an issue with a lump that was on the rubberised zoom barrel, queried this with them, and they had me send it back and quickly despatched a new one to me at no cost!

I'd use them again no question.

Niffy ;)

Hi Nifkin,

Thanks for your reply. What do you think of the 55-250is?

A good little tele zoom; satisfactory IQ, better built I think than it's companion 18-55IS, and, like that one, remarkable that it actually is IS for the price.

I have used them a couple of times in the past couple of years, got a bridge camera and a canon P&S. Had a stock issue with the P&S but phoned them and spoke to a very helpful employee who resolved the issue.

I would highly recommend them.

I have one for my 350d, bought from Amazon. It really is a cracking lens for the price! My pics have improved more than I honestly expected. I was using a Siggy 70-300, but the top end (after aprox 240mm) was very soft. Not so with this lens. It crops ok too!

Some pics taken with this lens.

I used them over a year ago and didn't have any problems with my order so id be happy to buy from them again :D

I saved over £100 with a lens I bought from them recently, great next day delivery and very helpful customer service, definitely recommended them!

I bought a compact camera from them two months ago. Good service, item arrived in two days. But you need to compare their price. Not always the cheaptest. Some products are even more expensive than the normal high street stores.

Hi,

Thanks Hutchinson82, Wontolla, Throttle, Russdamano and Longlyogre for your replys. Sounds good and as for the 55-250 I think I’ll be placing my order soon. I already have a 75-300 canon (non is) and on max it’s not very good but maybe its just the way I hold it or I expect too much.

I don't have any IS lenses and I could do with one as a lot of the time I'm out early morn and end of day the light is low so I could do with the IS to help me out.

Regards,

john

I've just placed an order with them - and they've phoned to confirm that it'll be with me tomorrow... I'll let you know if there are any issues...

The order has arrived today - as was stated - all packed nicely.

I ordered 2 x 580EX2 flashguns - came in 2 separate parcels.

One is absolutely new and fine.

The other I am hazarding a guess as used/returned but no fault. When I took them both out of their packaging - the second one had fingerprints on the red IR lens, and watermarks over the unit (looked like it had been out in the rain) but on testing appears to be 100% in operation. In two minds whether to stick with it - or send it back - but really want it for a small job tomorrow.

Thanks for your informing me of your experience. Think I would phone them and send it back for replacement.
