Well, I've printed a bunch of business cards on A4 Canson glossy photo paper on my humble deskjet HP 5740 and they do look pretty good, even though little beast doesn't handle gradients all that well.

Having read this thread I opted for Goodprint and placed an order on Tuesday evening. Got delivery of the cards this morning and I have to say they really are superb.

Excellent quality, has a very nice feel to it and print quality is very good. Thanks guys!

Again not the cheapest, but the quality is second to none.
