Hi

I am looking at getting some business cards done.

Looked at good print are £12.98 for 200 cards £20.98 for 500 has anyone used them, what is the quality like?

I want good quality cards, at a reasonable price.

any ideas

Thanks

Mark

Yeah Goodprint are fantastic quality. I had got my first lot done by Vistaprint, Ok for what they were. But Goodprint is a bit dearer, but well worth because of the quality. I think it is worth the extra £5 for the laminating as well. Helps proitect the card, plus it gives it a nice feel.
I should have an other batch of cards waiting for me when I get into work tomorrow.

I got mine from Goodprint. I got a matt finish on the front of mine and the quality is a huge leap from a lot I stupidly got from Vistaprint. The Goodprint ones cost slightly more but the quality is worth the cash IMO.

Thanks, I am not sure wether to have double sided cards with maybe a coupl of example photos on the back?

IMO don't put a photo on. You're a photographer, they already know that. Plus it helps point people to your website to view your portfolio.

Good point Ice cavern,

SHould you put on it services offered or just leave it and let people contact you?

I'm not sure. I have photos on mine.. the old adage a picture speaks a thousand words especially rings true for visual artists/professions. But hey, no right or wrong answer.

I don't recommend Vistaprint by the way, I had my last batch done by them.. the images (yes I have them) on mine were muddy in comparison to the previous batch I had done by a seller on ebay, who i can't get back in touch with ...darn. The price was good but the images weren't, I should say the black tones weren't.. the previous ones had a real sheen and quality to them, the vistaprints were dull in comparison.

I'd be interested in running off my own batch.. must grab some 300gsm paper to try it.

I used Vistaprint, pretty good but I can knock out some interesting designs if you lot wish :)

I have used Vistaprint for business cards, fliers postcards for my business.

Flyers and postcards were great. I went for the professional business cards and they were not up to scrath IMO. Went out and got some done elsewhere, as the ink had bled into the card and there was no sharpness or definition to them.

I printed my own for a long time but then decided that the finish was not professional enough so got some done by Vista print. Coloured front with photo and black and white back with the same image and my name and website at top and bottom - this leaves room on the back for a note which is often useful on a business card but anyone with it sees my name and website on both sides.

Another  for goodprint. Very good quality, speedy turnaround and the matt laminate finishes the cards off nicely. A bonus is that you can write in biro on the matt laminate - which is handy as the reverse of mine has lines for appointments etc :)

Highly recommended.

I used vistaprint and was really unimpressed, I used goodprint and was stunned at the difference. At the very least the Goodprint cards are standard Credit Card sized where as the vistaprint are the american long and thin ones which don't fit in a wallet.

Goodprint also use really good quality 400gsm card which is significantly better than vistaprint. The extra thickness makes the card feel more impressive in you customer's hand.

IMO photography is a luxury product especially if you charge the going rates so it is important to have your image look and feel luxurious so I also spent the little bit extra to have the matt laminate coating put on them.

GOODPRINT - more than a name

Never used goodprint.

I've used Vistaprint (the premium ones, not the ones with their logo on the back), and also a printer from Scotland (cant remember the name).

I've also used www.moo.com. Smaller, funkier, more stylish.
From now on it's moo every time for me now :)

Got some lovely ones from vistaprint - not the freebies, paid to have ones with one of my own pics on it and my web addy on the back, very nice quaility wise, but beware, they send you an email EVERY bloody day, but thats what junk filters are for

So did I get a bad print run from vista then?! i seem to be the only one with a bad word to say.. i did the premium too, my design etc.. same design that came out lovely from another company before...

I had some from Vistaprint, they were OK I suppose - Goodprint s are a tad more, well, professional ;)

I am going to get some of those Moo mini cards though:)

A vote for goodprint too.. however after I got them back the laminating didnt work too well with my overall design and effect I was looking for.

If you want a little inspiration on card designs have a look at this selection, some really clever ones:

(only problem is for such bespoke designs you would need to pay someone a lot of money or do them by hand)

I use Moo cards from Flickr.

I've found they are much more effective than normal business cards as they are a completely different size (smaller) so attract attention straight away, and you can select many of your pics on Flickr to go on the back of the cards.

Mine arrived just a few days after ordering in a strong little box. They must print them in the UK - I was expecting a 2-week delivery from the USA.

They are great - highly recommended.

I got my last batch printed from MK printing. Yes they are a little more expensive (£40 for 500), but that is on 400gsm card stock, and that is also double sided colour.

They sent me a template, and after adjusting the colour (templet is in CMYK), the end result as spot on in terms of colour. Support for the whole process was very good. They also do premium cards, which has a gloss finish on it, which is very impressive. Fast turn around too. About 3 days from order to recieved.

Moo for me... but I got some of the free Vistaprint ones for friends and family to pass on to other friends :)

I used Vistaprint and had to get them to be reprinted. I used my own design which I think was a mistake. I think they print in such high volumes that quality goes right out the window.

Ended up throwing the second lot in the bin as well.

Well Ill be getting some new ones once I get my webby up and running, just something else to add :)

My Moo cards have my name, number and email addy on, which is enough if someone wants to get in touch, just not if they want to see some of my work :D
