I have just got a BluRay writer to have a hard copy backup of photographs, in addition to Time Capsule. These to be held elsewhere.

So the writer works fine and no real problems apart from the only way to find out how much data is to be written, is to add a whole bunch of data and then remove until the amount to burn would fit on the disk. Not very elegant. Seemed easier on a DVD as the amount and expectation was lower.

I guess I am asking if anyone knows of a piece of software on OSX that will act as a buffer and shows how much data is currently queued for burning? I'm not bothered about playing films or trying to copy them.

Thanks Neil - just checked and it probably does what I need but so much more that I won't. At £85 it is just too much. I'm wondering why I seem to be the only person to have the problem!

I used to use Nero on Windows also. It looks like no Nero for Mac - but there is an alternative. Sadly they don't appear to support BluRay.

I guess its not a major drama but as is so often the way with Apple, its either well executed or dreadful. This appears to fall in the latter compartment.

Thanks for your suggestion though.
