Burgled

Sorry to hear that! We live in a selfish, sad world. Having been burgled in the past I know the feelings generated when it happens. Glad you and your family are ok and hope the thieves are caught soon!

Sorry to hear this, I hate those sneaky, cowardly ******s.

Hope it works out for you mate and your stuffs replaced quickly. Best wishes to your better half.

Ade.

Sorry to here about your loss mate.
I know the feeling as i have been broken into [ 4] times now,
but my mate got one of the last lot, beefed him one and
sat on him untill the law arrived. He got three months.

What did the burglar get? ;)

Utter B'stards
I hope they catch a horrible disease and bits fester and drop off.:bat:
At least you and the missis are ok

terrible :( atleast you're insured

I always try to keep my kit out of view.I'd look around your local pawn shops as its likely they won't be able to just sell the gear just down the pub...

Purely out of interest, did any of you that have been burgled have house alarms fitted?

Oh no. I know how bad I felt when we had an attempted break-in and I'm sure it's 100 times worse for you.
I live in a nice area with a low crime rate.
But you live in Southend!

(I'm allowed to say that. I was born and brought up in Southend and I was a Shrimpers season ticket holder...)
Thankfully I still have all my photos on my hard drive as they cannot be insured and replaced.
Get a backup solution. I have an external hard disk (<£100 for 500GB these days) and some amazing incremental backup software (EMC Retrospect £75). Well worth it.

Thanks for your support guys & gals.

It does make you think. But also it makes me wonder what else I could of done really other than lay Claymore Trip Wires in my living room....but then my cats would have to be well trained....

I've forgotton what the phrase is (something like preventative gardening) but we were recommended to grow prickly plants near windows, so roses, berberis etc

Hello all,

An update for those with interest.

My insurance will be covering my Window, TV, Xbox 360 and Cameras. They wont however be covering my new Sigma 105 Macro as I had only just bought it and it was not on my insurance. That thing cost me £300.00 now its gone....I should at least be grateful for what is covered.

However I am upset and gutted as the 105mm was by far my best and favorite lens and now I am left paying for it :(

My other half is home now thanks to everyone who wished her well.

A public thanks to CanonBob who very kindly offered right away to lend me a 30D and lens. A true Gent.

My father-in-law came round to my house last night with a new 400D, Grip, Kit Lens, and a Canon 55-250mm f/5.6 IS lens. So a big thanks there too.

Thanks again to everyone for your support. I will update as and when I get any info from the insurance and the police.

Just a thought Dave did you pay for your 105 with a card as these are normally insured for 30days I believe, worth a check you never know ;) Good to see you back with camera in your hand. CanonBob is a top bloke for sure. ;)

Yep, really sucks.

On the positive side, at least you had insurance and will probably be able to get a better replacement camera with the claim monies. I can't begin to imagine if I returned home to find my camera gear had gone and had no funds to replace it.

Am currently away visiting relatives and made sure I had current contents insurance in and away from the home before leaving the property unattended for 7 days.

Hope the police find the culprits.

Only just saw this thread .... I wouldn't know how to react if I were to get home in a situation such as yours .... devastated?:(

Good luck with getting back to your shooting!
