Hello.

Ive posted this here for everyone to see as a warning.

I took my other half to the hospital this afternoon and when I got back I noticed my living room window was open.....

I've been robbed. My photo gear, tv and xbox 360 gone.

YES it was locked when I went out.
YES it is all insured
YES the police know
YES my photo gear was out of sight in my cupboard.
NO my pc wasnt stolen, thats how im here now.
NO -one was hurt.
YES I am totally gutted.

Just wanted to warn everyone that these people/person knew exactly what they were doing and also the value of my photo equipment. I live in a nice area with a low crime rate.

IT CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE TO ANY OF US.

Thankfully I still have all my photos on my hard drive as they cannot be insured and replaced.

SB

Thats terrible news, I hope you get a result from the police and find the gear and the thieving ******* that took it.

Sorry to hear of your loss. It is good to hear that it is all insured but thats not the point. But it does make me think as most of my kit is in the living room!

I hope you can get replacements quickly

:shake:

people like this deserve :bat::bat:

I suppose that at least you were insured, although I guess that's little consolation under the circumstances.

That sucks :(

I'd be devestated if all my kit got stolen. Insurance is so worth the money :D

Soz to hear about this, at least you still have all your photos and you are insured.

Damn.. I hope you get it all sorted. Sorry to hear about this ordeal.

IT CAN HAPPEN ANY WHERE TO ANY OF US.

seems worth getting that in as many times as poss.

It's a horrid horrid feeling. :(:(

sorry to hear that mate...... keep an eye on the likes of ebay, you might just see your gear.... i had a friend broken into, we then found his laptop on ebay, so we bidded and won the item, we then went and collected the item, the guy was not too supprised when we didnt pay him.....

Sorry to hear the bad news.
I wouldn't give those thieving b*****ds a squirt of p**s if their arses were on fire.
Hope you get sorted soon.

Jeeze that sucks.
Sometimes the world is just ... just...

Tidy up, then resort to beer or red wine, sure it'll hurt in the morning, but less than your loss.

Sorry to hear about this, jees why can't people keep thier thieving hands to themselves.

Ah thats horrible, im sorry :( thanks for the warning...it does make you think doesn't it.

Sorry to here that mate, hope you get your new gear sorted soon

Sorry to hear  Hope they manage to catch the thieving scum.

So So sorry, as you say you can never be to complacent the scum bags.

Thanks for your support guys & gals.

It does make you think. But also it makes me wonder what else I could of done really other than lay Claymore Trip Wires in my living room....but then my cats would have to be well trained....

SB

Thats awful - really sorry to hear about your situation.

Hope the robbing scumbags get their come-uppance soon.

Hey Dave that's really bad news Mate. The country is now so full of scum now it's about time the government woke up and smelt the coffee and got b***dy tough once and for all with these low life's.
Hope you get it all sorted out soon.

Hi thats awful being burgled is our worst fear too
At least they did not take your computer with your photo's on it
Pete

:( Sorry to hear that

Sorry to hear your bad news, hope your `other half` is ok too

Sorry to hear that, but what worries me is that most people, myself included either list or put photographs of their kit on the forum. I'm sure some dubious ratbag could probably find info on the net to identify people and find where they live and then go and rob them. It's especially risky for those who have a website and contact information. This might be worth everyone thinking about.

damn, scum of the earth, i'd hate it, i'm so glad i've got insurance, though i'd hate it to happen to me :(

Really sorry to hear this. Hope it all gets sorted soon.

Thank goodness you still have your pictures too..

Bad news indeed, sorry to hear about that. This is the 2nd instance I've heard of this week where someone has gone out to visit someone in hospital and had their house broken in to! Sad times indeed.

Any ideas as to how they got in?

yes they managed to get through the double glazed living room window using a centre punch.

SB

buggers, well at least now you know the weak point in your defences and can do something about it.

just remove all the glass and doors in your house...

sorry to here the news - why not post the serial numbers on this and other forums + fleebay...

b****r. Sorry to hear it.

My parents neighbour had a similiar thing happen on Saturday night... through a double glazed window, silently. Took power tools as the place was being done up. Worst of all, they also took a sh*t on the floor and smeared it up the wall. Scum.

That's real crappy news SB ... :suspect: ... it has all been said above but very sorry to hear about your troubles ...

A lesson to us all I am sure 'cos we never know who is going to be next ... :suspect:

:p

Commiserations to the OP - I was done twice when I lived in Walthamstow & prior to that, lost a full bag of Contax/Yashica kit from a car. That destroyed my interest in photography for the best part of 13 years. Just as well I guess or I'd have lost another couple of kits in the burglaries. :shake:

Can I suggest a high priority task for each of you? Get all your kit together & record the serial numbers. Plod recover millions of pounds worth of kit & an awful lot of it goes to auction because there is no way to trace it back to it's rightful owner.

Also consider registering here (free).

This is a useful site if anything seems suspicious when buying used kit (not free!).

Pocket GPS World have a sub-forum where members can post details of kit that's gone AWOL. Maybe worth replicating something similar here?

B'stards!
Sorry to hear about your loss mate but its just not about the gear is it?
It's having your space violated.
I hope you get payed out for the full value at least, ' cause they sure as hell won't be caught
( I would love to be proved wrong here BTW)

Bummer.

Only good thing is your insured. Might also want to consider archiving off your images onto a second portable hard drive and keep it somewhere safe.

Sorry to here about your loss mate.
I know the feeling as i have been broken into [ 4] times now,
but my mate got one of the last lot, beefed him one and
sat on him untill the law arrived. He got three months.
