Burgled today, all my Canon gear stolen

Hi David,
I've had the same experience not too long ago and i wish you well for a speedy resolution with your insurance Co. I had a look for serial numbers on the net at www.stolencamerafinder.com and i'm sure there are others you could try.
Best wishes

Posted in Northern Ireland in case any gear travels across. Good job you had the serial numbers for the insurance policy. I'm going to do that today as I keep putting it off.

Bummer, but hey that is what insurance is for. When it happened to me I took it as an opportunity to change systems which was nice actually.

I hope your insurance does current market value replacements. Although saying that I 'lost' out on some items but gains on others over time.

Very sorry to hear of your experience. I've been through it too. Not nice.

Sorry to hear about this. It's why I keep tow big dogs, if anyone breaks in they might get my gear but there will be bits of them left behind.

I have a nice sign on my front door and rear gate, it's a picture of a GSD with the message I don't call 999 :-)

One is a big black boy really loud & the other is a black & tan bitch :-) people tend to stand 6ft away after knocking
on the front door.

Just got an update from my insurance and my claim's been approved. There are a couple of things to agree, such as ordering stuff from other suppliers at a lower price than WEX, otherwise I'm under-insured to the tune of £800 ish.

However the camera side of things looks better now. Next up is the other items stolen for the home insurance to deal with. That should get resolved on Friday.

Fun fun fun.

Just an update, Aaduki have been great and my replacement 7Dii, 5Diii, 70-200 mkii and memory cards were delivered from WEX this morning. Just awaiting the cheque from Aaduki so that I can order the rest of the kit from other places.

I can thoroughly recommend Aaduki for insurance, they've been very straight forward to deal with. Just make sure you have all your proof of purchase archived somewhere. That includes PMs from the Talk Photography for sale forums!!

That's great news, make sure it's all well hidden as the scrotes will often return after a few weeks on the premise that what they have already stolen once will have been replaced!!

one of the reasons for registering your equipment with the appropriate manufacturer is that in the event of theft, your equipment will appear on a database of stolen gear and if it is offered for sale/exchange or servicing, a reputable dealer will check the serial number in case items have been stolen

yes, emedded in data of every photo is the serial number of the camera which took the picture and you might try this site
