Sorry to hear this David ... there's a dedicated 'Stolen Gear' thread here somewhere and you could also list on www.immobilise.com

What rotten swines to do this. Hope you get some resolve quickly David.

Bummer. But it sounds like you got off easy.
When I got robbed they left my camera gear but took *all* of my images; computer, externals, backups, pretty much everything... Lesson learned; gear can be insured but images can't... Gear can be replaced, but images can't...

Very sad to hear David, deepest sympathies hope you get it all sorted soon................:(

Sorry to hear your bad news :( Hopefully they'll get the buggers!

wOw David, so sorry to hear this. I'm sure your gutted to say the least. I'd love to be in charge of the 'Electric Chair' if police caught them, trust me, a slow painful death would ensue.

Awful news, I feel for you.

I would do a search after a couple of weeks for the serial numbers in exif data ,not sure exactly how but I know it can be done

School holidays. Try the usual local second hand places, distribute this list to them and the local camera shops.

Terrible .......... makes you so angry (and sad)

What the actual :((((( Sorry to hear this David, hope you get your stuff back or replaced, but also the hassle/heartache of your privacy being invaded. Horrible mate.

I'm nowhere near you but if i hear of anyone selling this gear, of course i will report it.

I've emailed a local independent camera store and also MPB with the serials. I figure that someone who steals cheap flash triggers but leaves the speedlites probably doesn't actually know what they've nicked and may land in the usual google places to try and sell it.

Az -My iracing rig was untouched, they just went for jewelry and then stumbled upon the place I keep me cameras

Have you also gone to your local CEX and other 2nd hand dealers ?

I had a break in not long ago. Managed to catch them on a hidden security camera. Police were useless. Gave them the video, and they said they didnt have enough evidence. Took a drive around the local area the next day and luckily found them hanging around an old transit van parked in a back alley. Waited for 3 hours for them to go and then opened the 'unlocked' van doors to find all of my stuff and a load of others. Ended up taking my own stuff back and driving the van to the local nick. Idiots then had the stupidity to report a stolen van. Anyway, hope you at least get the insurance claim sorted quickly. I would offer some of my gear for loan if you needed it, but I think you're a little too far away. The offers there though.

Thanks for the offer Tim, so far the police have been good although I have no delusions of them catching anyone. This is London afterall, a big place to find anyone.

If I need any loan gear I'll be borrowing from my sister although there's nothing imminent coming up. Silvestone F1 GP is the next time I need my kit. That gives 5 weeks for insurance to get settled.

I'm an optimist, So I would look on the bright-side and use it as an excuse to jump to Nikon..........:nikon::naughty:

Pretty s*** thing to happen though hope you get ya stuff back and the little scrote/s get a horrible disease.

We were burgled the day after we had some expensive carpet laid. Luckily we could see exactly where he had been so, even though we felt violated the scumbag only "visited" our hallway and living room. He left my wallet and keys and satnav on the coffee table and only stole the wife's laptop.

Also sad to hear of this. Had not thought to record the serial numbers of my kit but it is a good idea and consolation that nearly all can be traced.

Scumbags......Hope you get sorted out soon in terms of the insutrance.

Chris

How did you take out the insurance ?.Did you list your cameras and lenses etc to them, any chance this information could have been intercepted.
Strange it's so close to you insuring it.

Maybe keep trying here or some others listed on google

I was shooting a friend wedding a few weeks ago and knew I had plans for the next few weekend where I'd have most of my kit with me so I took out insurance with Aaduki. They requested that I provide an itemised list and all serial numbers. That was sent via Gmail, although as a jpeg screen grab of the excel sheet I'd typed it into, rather than text in the email.

It's just mental timing. They cleared the drawer contents into a bag (my bag) and left. I can't fathom why they left the batteries though, unless they really knew nothing about cameras and didn't know what a Canon battery looks like.

thankfully all pc and NAS gear was left untouched. The gear is all insured too, although I only took out the policy a few weeks ago!

Who are you insured with?

I'm insured with Aaduki. I've now sent the claim form and all the proof of ownership I could find (TP for sale archives & PMs helped A LOT) as well as photos of my gear over the past couple of years.

If all gets approved apparently they arrange for the replacements to be send from WEX, which is ideal really. None of the kit was particularly old or getting replaced any time soon, the 7Dii was only about 10 weeks old!! so getting all the same again is actually exactly what I want.

Hope all goes smoothly. It's a terrible thing to go through so smooth running from now on will no doubt be welcome.

They left all the batteries behind, so if someone's selling a 7Dii or 5Diiiwith no batteries........

Worth keeping an eye on eBay. Cameras are sometimes listed without batteries, and I've always wondered if there is something untoward about this.

Sorry to hear of your troubles David. Hopefully your claim will get dealt with quickly, and the thieves are caught.
