Hi guys. Just to let you all know and make you aware that our house was burgled two weeks ago whilst my wife went to pick our daughter up from school. They broke the gate, smashed the glass on the french doors, then entered the property. There were three of them with balaclavas on. Fortunately, I finished work early that day and happened to get home same time as the missus did, but four minutes after they had left. I went straight in through the smashed window to find them, but they were long gone. As i went upstairs, i saw my Lowepro trolley case had been broken open and all my camera gear was there, untouched. I went to one of the bedrooms and noticed none of my photography gear had been taken. Unfortunately though, they trashed the other two rooms and took jewellery of sentimental value, left to us by my late parents. It will be long gone now, probably melted down, but i just wanted to make you all aware and ask you to keep your posessions safe.

Moey.

Pretty s***ty thing to happen... My thoughts are with you.

That's awful. :(
At least you & your family weren't hurt, which could have been different had you got home a few minutes earlier.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you and your family are coping ok with the trauma of it all.
How do you know there were 3 off them with balaclavs?
Matt

Yes, this is true, i'm thankful they didn't walk in on them. Usually, they would have returned earlier, but the wife nipped to the chemist for a prescription that day, thankfully.

We're ok thanks Matt although the thought of the sentimental things is something we're trying to block out. We were given cctv footage by a neighbour and it showed three people entering the property ten minutes after my wife left the house. The cctv on the rear of the neighbours property caught them putting balaclavas on before entering the house. Had someone walked in on them, i guess they were intending on doing some damage.

Wow that's really horrible to hear. We were burgled many years ago when we were kids. Twice. Very unsettling feeling. More recently, one of my friends was burgled. They hit a whole row of houses - break in, disable the alarm and then take their time. They couldn't disable my friend's alarm so scarpered. CCTV caught the face of one as he peered in to the porch to have a look. They were able to force open the french door around the back. The second time my friend was hit, they lifted the fence panels to move between houses and nicked whatever tools lay in the sheds at the back of the gardens.

Feel for you, one of my biggest fears is burglary. What with my house being empty when Im working or out it is a worry.

Was burgled once - when kids were at School and we were at work. Dreadful experience to realise that someone has been in your house . It was a long time before I got over it. The guy was caught in our case and some of our stuff was found at a PawnBrokers. Being in Scotland, we managed to get an Order that it had to be returned to us. Some stuff was never found :(
