Yes
Who do you use for foreign exchange?

Popped into my bank to enquire about Tobago Dollars. The rate was 1GBP = 10.52710 TTD. Thought I'd check XE before ordering and the current rate is
12.1033! I rather pay a charge and get the full rate or at least someone who is offering 11+

Check out TRAVELEX website. I have found that give you you a really good rate if you order online and collect at the airport. Commission free too! When we went to Canada the other week we got $1.93 to the £ whereas the high street was only offering $1.79.

Cheers guys. Travelex is slightly better but there is a Post Office local to me. Hmmm

i always get my currency from the post office but M&S seem to be good aswell

I think the rates on XE are based on trading rather than travel if you see what I mean.

M&S check their rates against the competition each day and make sure they're as good so you should get a pretty good deal there. I normally use my bank which is commission free but I'm too lazy to run around to save the extra few quid :(

Yeah I realise I won't get that rate but the closer the better.

Looks like M&S are now favourites:thumbs:

Is there anything M&S don't do :lol::lol::lol:

Seems a better deal than the Post Office - 1142.30 Trinidad Tobago Dollar for £100

another vote for M&S here, they were cheapest for US dollars when we went at christmas

Go for a wander round the city centre and see who's offering the best rate. We tend to get our Euros from the travel agent we book through - but only because they do the best rate. Ask to see if the amount you're exchanging qualifies for a better rate. Check the buy-back deals as well; no point in getting a couple of extra cents to the pound if you end up getting stiffed on any left over currency.

Happy Holiday BTW!

i often just get my money from a cash machine when i get to the country.. does anyone know if thats a good or bad idea from an exchange rate point of view?

Depends if your bank or credit card charges a cash advance fee on top. But normally they're better exchange rates.

You often do get a better exchange rate, but then that is wiped out by the fact that your bank will often charge you a fixed fee for using the machine, and sometimes the machine will also charge you a fee as well.

Yup, I only get charged a minescule cash advance fee so I always get it out of the ATMs when abroad. I've done this in Europe, The USA, Middle east and even Sri Lanka and still received the exact market going rate. Check wth your bank/card issuer and then work out what's best.
