Yes
I've shopped at Bunnings in Australia many times and just been to their new store in Rochdale, I think it's the only one in the North West. Just like their Aussie stores it was stacked to the roof with goods and quite reasonably priced with very helpful staff, I can see it giving B&Q a bit of a battering in the future. A much needed alternative I think.

One has just opened here too, a replacement for Homebase (which Bunnings parent company has purchased). I like it a lot, but couldn't find the drawer Handles I wanted yesterday, so had to travel to B & Q to find them :(

I recently had a mooch around my recently opened one, and like Ruth's, its on the old homebase site,
I was impressed too  ( and its closer than B&Q :D )

I see the homebase in Basingstoke has been replaced by one. Never heard of them before to be honest.
I'm not surprised. It's their first foray into the UK, I think.

Homebase and Bunnings both owned by Aussie company Wesfarmers

Yep. But they stated their intention to replace all Homebase outlets with Bunnings when the purchase was made.

I'd never heard of them neither. The nearest store to me is 13 miles away yet have two quite big B&Q stores less than five miles away. I can only think of two Homebase stores fairly local to me and they are about a third of the size of the B&Q stores. I can't see them having much stock if they took them over.

I wonder if that will happen with all Homebase stores. We have quite a small one near us but we're only a 20 minute drive from MK where there is a Bunnings. I wonder if they'll just decide to close the Homebase here.

Yup, Bicester Homebase has been Bunningsed too.

It's quite a sight in the Aussie stores to see a massive drive in trade section where vans and small trucks drive right up to the shelves to be loaded by store staff. No need to load onto trolleys and push them across car parks.

When I lived in Melbourne, Bunnings sold "Pelican" style cases at about 1/3 the price of the real ones - very popular with photographers [emoji3]

May even bring them here too [emoji3]

They have been clearing all Homebase branded items for several months in preparation for this.

Not clear that all Homebase stores will be retained & rebranded but AFAIK they kept all staff on same (possibly improved) terms. IMO that makes such a buyout/takeover 'a white knight'.

The nearest one to Bristol is at Worle, at the old Homebase site. Well south of the city.

My days of serious DIY are long over but Homebase never was more than a last choice for me.

Hopefully the Bunnings touch will revitalise the offering as Homebase had lost it.

The Worle site will pick up the residents of the new estates in and around Weston Super Mare and Portishead.

Only pop into Homebase if the car washing place in the car park isn't open yet. I've heard that the new owners are trying to evict the car wash (FS, who seem to have branches in lots of Homebases) but they (FS) have a valid contract.
Bought some lights from there a couple of weeks ago - £3, reduced from £30. End of line at a guess.

Went to B&Q again today. Didn’t have what I needed (as usual) except a new tape measure which they had marked down. £5 to B&Q, £140 to screwfix.

We don’t have a bunnings anywhere near here, but I hope they give B&Q a run for their money.

Whilst I was in B&Q I did price a lock at £40, £23 at screwfix. They also had a water heater marked down to £140. It was the same one I bought at screwfix last week for £93.

Oddly B&Q and Screwfix are both owned by Kingfisher, B&Q of course being very much for the home diy'er.
