Critique required Bullinachinashop's 52' for '25 - weeks 11-13 catch-up

Really like your tree silhouette. I can see going back to it a number of times as the weather changes. Your through the window shot is excellent. Love how you've used the door frame to divide the image into two.

I like your shot in the bar, and it certainly works for the theme. The colour balance is an issue, but I'm not sure quite what you could do about it.

Tree shot works really well - nice and atmospheric.

I was confused by your Window shot as I thought you'd taken the whole thing through the window.
Ha! Thanks.. hopefully a bit of confusion is ok!!
Tree shot came out well, no mistaking its an early morning shot. Horse and trees work - maybe a narrow crop of the middle would work.

Bar looks interesting, like the punchy colours though not sure about the colour of mountains through the window. Like the cowhide? on the wall
Thanks, I spent too long playing with crops of that horse and tree shot and it ended up a bit of a mess tbh!

And yes, colours went awry on the bar shot but as I was stretching the theme I thought it made add to the illusion that the mountains were just another picture on the wall
Phone or not that silhouette is great.

I think the artificial light in the bar has screwed up the mountains (unless the snow where you are really is cyan?!

I think lightroom allows for a selective mask with differing white balance - I'm not sure if it's on the mobile version - but with the automatic selection being so good now that might be an option to even then out?

I like the concept of the photo lots - to me it almost looks like the window is "just" another poster.
Thanks!! That was the plan and I was happy to let the colours go wherever they went. Though I should learn how to mask properly in LR
Your silhouette shot is a cracker. Spot on composition.
Thank you sir!
Well caught up and I agree the silhouette is great.
Thanks
The tree shot is beautiful.
Really appreciate it!

Thank you and yes, I have loads of that tree in the archive!

Falling behind again - I taske the pictures but am too slow getting them uploaded! Anyways...

Week 8 - Street signs and symbols
Some large-scale local roadworks which are taking ages and are presumably competing for the world record for 'most cones and signs used at a junction'. The googly eyes made the picture for me!

I've also included one from my 'graffiti' shoot a few themes back which I didn;t post at the time. Probably prefer this image but it seemed like cheating as it wasn't shot for the theme!

Week 10 - Pattern
Very happy for any opportunity to use my Tamron 90mm f2.5 1:2 film lens! All these efforts are taken with it

This is the plinth of my record player - possibly my favourite possession! Custom made by a very talented joiner - the light wood is bamboo, the dark wood is circa 250 yr old Cuban Mahogany (now extinct) from a fire-damaged dining table found at a reclamation yard. I love the constasting organic textures

I've started collecting Seiko watches and I thought the pinstripe dial of my 1977 4336-8040 Quartz worked well for the theme

These mosaics are part of the sleeve art on a King Tubby LP I scored today in a charity shop - the cashier saw a couple of records I'd already bought and said "someone's just dropped of a box of vinyls, do you want to have a look - I got home with a heavier bag and a lighter wallet - and all for a good cause :)

Finallly I'll leaf you with this

Good catch up Ross.

I’ve not come here from the main thread so no idea what you posted as your favourite so I’ll just give my thoughts.

Signs. When I look at this on my phone I didn’t see the whole image. In oreder to read the post, it displays as a cropped landscape version with just the head poking in the corner. I quite liked that version as I think it drew more attention to the eyes. May (or may not) be worth considering an edit.

Feather’s great. At first it looked like a drone shot of a mountain range.

Record player plinth also good. But it’s a strong set of images. Plus extra points for King Tubby.

I’m with you on only using images taken for the challenge, but that street sign is a great shot, the hard shadows make it look so brutal.

A great catchup, your horizontal pic of the feather is amazing! I think you chose the right shot for pattern too, with the sleeve art being my second favourite for it

That cropped image is completely different and humorous made me smile

Nice catchup with the street sign and earlier though a window short particularly striking for me. Light in the latter is superb

Really like the perspective on your signs shot.
The feather took me a moment, I thought that you were using it for the patterns theme. It's very well done.
Your patterns shot is very well done.

Better late than never,

great images particularly like the "Signs" a great shot.

Nicely broken and textured Ross :)

Loving the broken lights and trailers, very much my cup of tea. You did well to get as close as you did to those goats with a 35mm lens, I’m not so sure I’m nearly as brave!

Two good shots for broken and texture The goat shot in the tyre is well framed but the focus is off slightly maybe due to the slow shutter speed

Good catch up, particularly like the cat, goat in the tyre tunnel and the texture shots. My brother had a couple of goats, good fun to watch them on the kids trampoline but he sold them as their hooves were not very good for the paint work on car bonnets and roofs :)

Nice catch up, any of the goat (or cat!) pics would have worked, they're so adorable!
I like both of your texture pics too, think you made the right choice for the flat white

3 lovely shots and all well on theme. I particularly like the two Texture shots and I think you've chosen the right one for the theme.
