I'm not sure which section I should post this, but can anyone please tell me the name of the building in front of the Gherkin in this shot?
I took it from a Thames riverboat a couple of years ago.
It's the one with the gold finial. I'm assuming the frontal wiht the doric columns are the same building?
Thanks.

The Doric columns are possibly is Fishmongers Hall. I think the finial is a different building*.

* edit. It isn't a building, as such, it is Monument.

Thank you. I'm sure you are correct on both counts.
Have a good evening.

I'm just wondering now what the 2 (part shown) tall new buildings are next to the Gherkin. Is one the walkie talkie?

I think that you are right with the Walkie Talkie building (or 22 Fenchurch Street), the other one is the Cheesegrater (or 122 Leadenhall)

the other one is the Cheesegrater (or 122 Leadenhall)

No, it's 52 Lime Street, AKA The Scalpel by Kohn Pedersen Fox architects, completed in 2020.

122 Leadenhall Street (The Cheesegrater) is to the west of The Gherkin on Leadenhall Street, and would be to the left in this view.

Front to back, there is
  • Fishmongers' Hall (Edward Jerman, 1671)
  • Regis House, 45 King William Street (commercial, 1998)
  • The Monument to the Great Fire of London (Christopher Wren, 1677). This is the gold finial, which represents the flames of the Great Fire.
  • 20 Fenchurch Street / Walkie Talkie (Rafael Viñoly, 2009)
  • Aviva Tower / Commercial Union Building (Gollins Melvin Ward Partnership, 1969) - a corner is just sneaking into the left of the frame
  • 30 St Mary Axe / The Gherkin (Foster + Partners, 2004)
  • 52 Lime Street / The Scalpel (KPF, 2020)
Edit: a couple of my own views of The Monument
