Hi has anyone built a infinity curve in there studio or used one compared to a sheet back drop system. Thinking of building one for my new studio, its going to be about 12ft wide and 8ft high :)

Bullt a few skate ramps back in the day so i'm guessing it cant be that hard to build one and its not going to take no where near as much of a battering as the half pipes :naughty:.

Thanks for the link Thomas think i'm going to sack the Infinity Curve for the time being and just go for backdrop, would love the Infinity Curve but you limited to just the white

 You mean your not tempted in anyway to have the one mirrion choices of backdrop cloth!

As much as I'd love too, the cost made me a little sick

Best of luck with it anyway mate, be sure to keep us updated

Just like building a 2ft tranny into a vert wall. Except no need to worry about low crs etc. Poss look at flexi mdf. LIke you built many skate ramps over the years, and nothing worse than having mates walk up the transition as you frantically nail and screw in the ply.:D

Looking to convert my garage sometime in the future, nothing special, just a bit of a play. Will be building a cheap infinity curve. Have to resist temptation to skate it.

The last one i made was in two parts the wall section curving down then a gap ....then a continuation of the curve on a low plinth.
The gap was used for low lights for special effects.
You did not see the gap in the normal way.

OK so this thread is like a year old but i am going to jump on its band waggon anyway!!

i have just been offered some studio space, and we were thinking about an infinity curve but the space isn't REALLY that big, as professionals / semi pro photographers [not sure of your status's ] do you think its acceptable to use a cloth/vinal sheeting backdrop ? or would we be better off going for one of the larger spaces [which are cheaper but are communal and so not lockable] within the gallery building in order to build some sort of curve?? I am a huge fan of the versitility of vinal [i do a LOT of pet photography] and find that i am able to get a good DOF on it so do i NEED a curve?

just starting my curve in a few days got the outer wall done today

I remember seeing a vid on Youtube on how to build one. It was pretty damn big though!
Should be easy enough to find if you need some pointers.

That's the easy bit :)
Good luck with your endeavour.
