building a desktop pc?

Links for things to buy or how to go about it?

Iv'e had bits from Scan.co.uk aria.co.uk and overclockers.co.uk all with no grief and the forums at http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/ is full of knowledgeable types.

Dabs and ebuyer are useful as is novatech, but they're a little dearer.

You haven't the time? It takes about 20 minutes to put one together. Another half hour to get up and running.

I have been putting computers together since I was 8 years old (currently 30) and not one of them has taken 20 minutes. You can expect at least an hour or so of putting it together and setting it up (hardware). I think 20 mins is a slightly optimistic prediction especially if you have never done it before.

OCUK forums are a good place to ask questions but if you need any more help just let me know.

thanks for the offer of help.
I'm giving the IBM at home one last attempt at fixing it first!

If youve planned ahead and you know your case 20 mins is doable at a fast pace. For a newbie an hour plus software install time is probably about right after watching YouTube vids as a guide.

And if you want to get all the wires tidily placed and make sure the heatsink is down properly, take your time ;) Nothing worse than putting everything together, pressing the on-switch and nothing happens!

When I changed the motherboard & heatsink in my server, including clearing stuff with a vaccuum etc... it took me about 1:30. Probably could have done it quicker, but it worked first time...

LOL - I like to take my time when creating;) a pc, I mean its like giving birth, you cant rush it its a process that needs some relaxing cabling and lots of wire ties and some flexi trunking and then the topping out ceremony with a beer and let windows load while watching The Fifth Element, its a thing I do:cuckoo:

Then a nice Chinese take away.......and throw some high def video at it for encoding, to see how faster it will do it than the last build:thumbs:

Next build is an ivy monster I think:naughty:
