We found this in our garden bin and none of our bug charts really matches it. It seems to have wing covers and when returning to the bin later it had gone. Any ideas on its make would be gratefully

Its one of the chafer bugs, probably a common cockchafer ( aka May bug)

Many thanks we also have a large house spider called Dyson which was released alive from the vacuum cleaner.

Spiders are great for cleaning up unwanted house pests.
So a very apt name in more ways than one.

Cockchafers however lay eggs in your lawn and the Larvae eat the roots of the grass killing it in large patches :(
