I'm thinking about buying a small video camera to record my kids thai boxing fights. I've been swapping between my 6d and my iphone but don't like the bulkiness of the 6d or the lack of zoom function and memory of the iphone so thought I would look into buying a small video camera. What kind of money would I need to spend to get a half decent camera that will match or better the 6d in video quality and does anyone have any suggestion on which to buy?

Thanks

Used both Sony and Panasonic, Iwould chose the Panasonic anyday for ease of use and picture quality.

What are you using the camcorder for? I was looking at this particular model or the one up to give to my parents to capture moments with their grand-kids.
We just use it for making little videos with our daughter, just capturing her growing up etc. Its a little grainy if its used in poor light but outside its fine. I'd get a second battery or a high capacity one though if i was you as they dont last very long! Its a cracking little camera for the money though.

Cheers for sharing your usage. I am looking to get this for the same reason. Capture those 'first' moments etc. Doing it with DSLR has become a burden as I can't hand it over to friends and family so something like this on a mini tripod seems perfect. I had something similar in the past and know what you mean about the grain but I guess can combat this by putting up the lights at home or using my small LED light. I just want something simple to use but retaining good detail for when converted to DVD and played on the big screen.
