hi I want to buy a basic studio kit - say a softbox and umbrella. I am told to get Interfit or Elinchrom. Should it be flash or just continuous lighting.

Also what sort of trigger is best - I/R or radio. I have an INterfit I/R one - does it with work with Elinchrom lights
Comments please - I expect to spend £:bang::bonk:250-400

Do a forum search on Lencarta, very good value.

I agree with Tomas
But then I would wouldn't I....

Whether you get Lencarta or not, flash is the way to go. Please see this brief guide to choosing your studio lighting.

I.R. is yesterday's technology. It works provided that you have approximate line of sight and provided that there isn't too much light in the room, but radio is far more reliable.

Sorry to jump on back of this thread, its just i am in similar situation and wanted to say, thank you to Gary for link to brief guide. Very helpful...

You may want to check this 1 thread, and this 2, and this 3, and this 4, and this 5 ... they are all ones that I have book marked as they are very informative.

Garry thanks and the rest of you. Yes the interfit I/r wouldnt fire the lights the last time I used them at the club unless I stood well back to get approx line of sight as you say. However, I cant see any radio triggers on websites like Warehouse Express. Any suggestions where to buy one?:bang::bonk::bonk: MERV

Some people swear by the cheap ones sold on Ebay, other people just swear at them...;)
You can also get Elinchrom Skyport, Bowens Pulsar, Pocket Wizards and a host of others. Some have more features than others and different people have different needs and different budgets so it's just horses for courses really.
All of the Lencarta kits include a 16-channel radio trigger as standard.
