Budget Light Stand, Umbrella Bracket, Hotshoe Mount and Umbrella

I know that I'm a lighting numpty, but what kind of sensor thingy do you need for it tow oork and will that be expensive?

A set of the V4 triggers (or the older V2s model) are one of the cheapest ways to get started, the other option is a cable to run from the hotshoe to the flashgun.

Because you've got a Sony you'll need to make sure whichever option you go for will work with that setup as the hotshoe on your camera is different from all the other brands :bang:

Another way to 'tighten' the V4 stands, if you don't want to hang them, is to simply put some superglue between the metal leg and the plastic!

Alternatively, get the 'blazzeo' branded ones from linkdelight (on ebay or their site), which seem to have some plastic pieces in to attempt to stop them from swivelling round.

I notice you were so excited that you didn't even bother moving the lightstand packaging from the floor... also that the softbox is being tested in the bedroom, which is undoubtedly the best place to test the functionality of most photographic items... :D

Also, have you got a link?

@ onform - That's the one :), been away this weekend didn't have time to take some photos but as soon as I do I'll post them up, am off to Turkey with the missis this Friday so might pack it in my suitcase as it doesn't weigh much.

That looks really good. You got a link to where I can buy them? Does it come with the attachment to attach it to a stand?

Now you just need to give it a test and show us the photos! Intrested in how this performs, nice first set-up!

I did post this elsewhere but i will put it up again just for you kind people...

I used one soft box which I held up to the right of the camera.

yeah it is nice... and this was shot at f10 1/160th iso100 Only a little sharpening needed too... Take note though that I had some fill from the white wall so not a 100% accurate representation of the light wrapping capabilities.

I bought one of the softbox and shoot through it with a diffuser over my 580EX II as well. I find it's even nicer light. I'm certainly happy with the quality of the softbox though!

Just done a little test. Fired the flash through the softbox at 105mm and it was no different-looking than 24mm with a diffuser over the flash. I took a photo of each but they look identical.

I too tested mine with an internal diffuser, Gary fong clear with cloud dome, as I thought this would be ideal with the light coming from the clear sides bouncing off the sides of the softbox and the forward firing flash diffused by the dome. But, like you I found no discernible difference so I don't bother. ;)

I think we should all show some more examples using the softbox. Just out of curiosity you understand.

Just received my 7dayshop light stand. Fairly good. Not as sturdy as I had hoped but then I suppose for £10.99... what did I expect?

Will be fine to hold a brolly and flashgun in mild winds :)
