Hi all. I've had my dslr canon 450d since last summer and I'm thinking I could do with some lighting for my random indoor shots of inanimate objects.

I've seen some basic lights at smick:

I'm not doing portaits, I'm just messing around and learning.

Would I be better of getting a 430ex? Would both continuous and the flash be worth having? If I go for the 430ex, should I be looking at a stand so I can do off camera flash?

Any advice appreciated!
cheers,

to get a better idea find gavin hoey on youtube. to find him type photogavin in the searchbar and go to his channel because he does tutorials for smick and shows you how stuff works etc.

thanks. the thing i like the sounds of with continuous is being able to see what i'm getting before the shot. might be good for learning.

i'm also looking at the 430ex with an ettl cable and stand.

i always use continous lighting for product photgraphy because its easier and you can fly through the image process, i use flashguns for my portrait photography but never for products because it seems alot of mess about when it comes to angling the head and power output etc.
