After just being on this forum for less that 2 months, I have realised how little this course actually teaches you about photography.

I think I have learnt more about the workings of a camera and the processes on this forum and in my own time than i have on the course, all we have learnt in reality on the course is how to develop and print black and white film, how to use a studio and the basic relationship between ISO, aperture and shutter speeds.

The majority of this course has just been researching photographers and writing about them then trying to copy them without being actually taught the knowledge we need.

I'm so glad I joined this forum, so I can actually talk to people who know what they're on about rather than most of the people on my course who just go "huh?" when you mention anything that isn't about studio lights or b&w film.

and I'm done.

Agreed. I did a couple of recreational courses, and they were more about meeting like minded people than anything IMO.

Can always find what you need here!

Coming to the end of my 2nd year, I completely agree.

However, I do feel I have learnt a lot, and I get £30 a week for it so no complaints :)

I agree, I did a recreational course 'Camera and Studio Workshop,' which I learnt hardly anything!

Which college you at? I'm guessing Boston or Stamford?

I'm at Peterborough so i'm pretty sure you're not here as photography ND starts next year (media (inc photography) is in a separate building - i'm studying journalism)
