sky not offering fibre in your area? might work out cheaper.

Yes they are but they also want £50 activation fee(even though I have tv;telephone and broadband with them) which im not prepared to pay.

TBH It's not really made that much of a difference ... even with over 30 connected devices (we are a large family) we could still stream 2 Netflix sessions simultaneously most of the time with the old speed ... it was when #1 son was uploading new media to iTunes & YouTube for his band where we were suffering ...

I spoke to them before deciding to change to give them the option to offer a free activation to a loyal customer, but no offer was forthcoming. (I though she may have said 'let me speak to my Manager!' I even said that this is the reason I was moving my telphone line and broadband connection and the Sky lady said that she would make a note of my reasons on my file.
So have now done the business with BT and looking forward to the change. I bet they will come back to me when they are contacted by BT but by then its too late.

PS anyone have the Youview box and what do you think about it.....I understand I need a freeview aerial to move to this BT package

Have Sky changed the upload speeds? It used to be a 40/2 connection, which is pants if you want to upload anything.

Surprised you get 72/9 too - I get 62/16 - I thought BT either did 40/10 or 80/20, not 80/10

Sky is 40/10 now, which is more than adequate for my needs

BT have been absolutely flawless for me since I moved to them a couple of years back for Infinity (now moved to Infinity 2). I've not had a single drop in that time (this is not hyperbole). Obviously that's no guarantee that you'll get a great service, but a definite thumbs up from me.

Thanks, Steve, can't wait now for it to go live

I've been on BT fibre for nearly a year now and I too can honestly say it's been flawless. I'm only on a 40/10 package but considering having it upped to 80mbs

I have BT fibre and have never looked back

I had a similar chat with sky in my last house;

Me: I want to upgrade from Sky to Sky HD, broardband and phone

Sky: you'll need to pay set up and installation

Me: but Virgin are offering it for free and the package is cheaper

Sky: yeah, there package is better

Me: ummmm could I go through to cancellations then

I kid you not, that actually happened

Been on Infinity 2 for quite a while now and no complaints at all, as long as you don't have to ring them up that is.

Very good, we've been with BT for a long while and have been pleased with their service...

Yes, you need a freeview aerial for either BT vision or the You view box - we've the BT vision box and I'm considering if it's worth the You view box at the moment...

Nice upload speed, shame Virgin media (or their marketing dept) are more bothered by the download speed, I'm on 100/5....

Living inthe boonies was surprised to see the new green ccabinet 50 yards from the house

Got Infinity the 1 month later Infinity 2

had changed from Talk Tal with speeds of 3.7/0.7 and for the l
pat 8 months on 73.4/15.6 without a blip.

A few neighbours have come onto Infinity 2 without any speed drops. We have the Cisco Cable Modem which just chugs away and the Home Hub 3 does a great job.

We can have nearly 15 things running and no dropping out even when I am uploading large video files (1-3Gb) to the cloud for my clients to use.

BT are talking about fibre to the property which will take out the last run of copper but frankly we dont need the extra bandwidth (yet) and installation is pricey.

If you can get Infinity grab it. Virgin will not cable out here as not enough people.

Worth noting that Home Hub 3 has 3 10/100 ports but only 1 gigabit port. Yes you can add a switch but it was daft to design a 3/1 in favour of 100 meg rather than say a 2/2 or better a 1/3 in favour of gigabit.

Am thinking about searching out a different cable wireless router when I get time.

BT have been fantastic in delivering more than stated. Go the YouView coming from them this week.

Lets see if Sky can match them now they have "bought" O2/BE broadband customer base.

Was glad to have dumped Talk Talk.
