just bought a canon eos30d second hand with a tamron 70-300 lens i presume this will be ok for taking bike photos

im really looking for a standard lens but confused with which one to buy i would like to do the odd wedding and family pictures.

did a wedding back in november borrowed a eos30d loved the camera thats why i bought one

im just looking for standard lens now and battery grip

i paid £270 for camera lens and a bag **** i didn't think was to bad

i use to have a fuji finepix S9500 i use to take bike pictures at cadwell park but they not fully focused i was told by a m8 who is semi pro that i was getting shutter lag.

so i got shut of that camera and bought the canon eos 30d

First off, you need to resize your pics before uploading them. I do mine at 1024px along the longest edge . Then use something like Flickr or Photobucket to host them.

For a motorsport lens you need something that will focus nice and fast. I use a Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 and it's very quick at focusing but bikes are VERY fast so it's still tricky.

As your using canon (I'm using nikon) then you could look at the 100-400mm f4 L. That seems to be popular for motorsport.

The Tamron 70-300 you have is a nice lens but will struggle to focus quickly enough in some situations
