weekly Bruja's 2015 52 CHRISTMAS and DONE!!!!

Connected, great narrative and it's #2 for me. #1 lighting looks a little purple/blue, not sure if it's an optical illusion with there being so much purple??

#2, liking the crop and B&W conversion.

Cheers.

Hi, really like the 2nd one great explanation and a difficult subject to portray

A couple of wonderful cloud shots there Jill. :)

Connected hmmm well I suppose #2 is more interesting photographically. Definitely an original take. (y)

Nice report Jill.

The pics, I feel, would be quite ordinary without the storyline.

But nonetheless I really enjoyed your sub this week, thanks.

Thanks for all the comments this week. A bit of a mixed reaction I see, but it fits the theme so me importa un pepino

Ooo I'm getting vertigo just looking at that!
Tis a nice image Mim

Hi, thats a weird optical illusion as at first glance I was not sure wether it's up or down, works well (y)

Hi Jill. I agree with Allan, could be viewed up or down. A terrific response to the theme.

You seem to have brought out something wonky which adds. And I like the fact there's more light further down ... spot metering?

Thank you kind sssssnake. I just went to the top of our stairs. An advantage of living in an apartment block, albeit with only 3 floors and a basement. Didn't even have to change out of my dressing gown and slippers:p

The horizon isn't straight :coat:

</kidding>
Nice image there and spot on topic.

:bat: Thanks Lee (y)

Hi Allan, I've done a couple like this before and if you get the angle right they have an Escher like quality. It can work with water reflecting onto the underside of a bridge too. If can find it I'll add it ;)

Found it! It's actually the underside of a bridge crossing the River Wear at Durham. You see steps but it's actually looking up to the underside of the stone arch. What you see as the top of the step is actually the underneath of the supporting brick arches. So instead of Down, this is Up:thinking:

Well I'll go to the top of our stairs! Actually, that's what I did, and I didn't even have to change out of my dressing gown and slippers

OOoo very nice Jill, I really like how it gets lighter as it goes down, and the angle/composition is very effective

Thanks Dean. Breaking the rules works sometimes :)

Thanks Carl (y)

Thanks Chris :)

Cracking shot Madam :) I thought it was up too when I first set eyes on it but then settled on down. Smashing stuff

Thanks Lee, it was taken from the top of our stairs down to the basement, so it definitely was Down ;)

Hi I guess it's not the most original idea, however I do like the funky angle, nice detail, nice perspective good show.

cheers

Is anything original anymore :p Cheers Andy, glad you like it bonny lad (y)

You seem to have brought out something wonky which adds. And I like the fact there's more light further down ... spot metering?

Hi David, wonky can definitely be good :p Also the top floor has some natural light, 3 rd floor and 2nd floor no light and ground floor has some natural light and so does the basement so I got enough light overall to create the image I wanted.

Hi Jill

Liking the second shot but feel it needs flipping horizontally, as if you read the image from left to right they are going up not down, I feel they would flow downwards the other way - The shot has wonderful colours and really like the curve too :)

Hi Dean, it wasn't a submission for the theme, just an archive shot showing you can't always believe what you first see ;) as a couple of people mentioned the illusion.

It's actually taken looking up at the underside reinforcing brick arches of a bridge with the water reflecting on it. I know what it is supposed to be but find it really difficult to 'see' the bridge. I start to see it then just see steps again :runaway:

Ok OK slow down SLOOOOOW down, my head is spinning and I need to sit down. I thought the drost effect staircase was bad enough, but that bridge has got my eyes flipping in and out, every time I just about see bridge I get steps/bridge/steps/bridge/steps... :runaway: You should be barred from the forum for stuff like this.:police: - I'm joking of course.

Wonderful stuff! - keep it up Mrs.

I really like the bridge shot. It took me a while but once I saw it, it really "snapped" in

I still can't see it and I took it :)

Thanks Brian ;)

Fascinating shots Jill especially the bridge one ...stairs have a great angle and lighting, spot on for the theme.

Thanks Susie (y)

I agree with Tim about the DoF. Wonderful image Jill - love the colours and the diagonals give it extra interest. Definitely organised.

Some people are just far too organised in their lives ( it worries me slightly :D )
Lovely colours nice and sharp too Jill

Very Organised :)
Liking the colours, the green and pink are complimentary.
I'm glad you didn't go for a shallow DoF, this seems to really work with the whole thing in sharp focus.

Thanks Tim (y)

Cheers Carl, I definitely wanted it all in and seems like I got my wish (n)

Damn, now that is organised, I agree with the others here on DoF and vivid colours, I also line the chosen diagonal configuration, adds a nice flow for me (y)

Thanks Dean (y)

And I agreed with Tim and Carl, well done.

Thanks Chris, and thanks for commenting :)

Hahahah, not me, it was taken at my local Chinese todo shop with my trusty iPhone. Who needs an expensive camera anyway when you can get pics this sharp :ROFLMAO:

Perhaps I should do the 2016 52 only using the phone

Hi, nice colours and very organised and a phone image, perfect for the theme (y)

Hi, Jill... Loving this pic so much. And iPhone?! Seriously?! It's a good enough image there. Look at the colours. :jawdrop:

Heyyy... We can put it as an added theme for next year. Taking pictures just using mobile phone cameras? Poking @Cobra :naughty:

Yo Jill ... another one who thinks the diagonality does the trick. It wasn't immediately apparent till I saw the numbers. (y)

Hi Jill
Before I start, as per your comment I have decided to got on and finish 52 rather than attempt to lose any more protrusions or digits!
Chilled .... That is a cracker:D But I hope Hubby removed the ice cube before you got up, you wouldn't want it sliding down any crevasse:exit: Cool Shot! As usual, you always manage to make us smile…. Nice even lighting, Nice point of focus, Well done!

Special …. That’s a nice portrait shot, great eye contact and really nice colour… nice sharp DOF works very well and separates hubby well from the background.(y)

Despair … very well portrayed and a very poignant image. It’s a terrible thing depression. Thankfully they seem to be doing something about these mental illnesses at last and actually acknowledging them, but how much they do and how quickly is another matter. The plain background and the distance away from the subject seem to really enhance the “Feeling” of the shot…. Nicely done

Noise…. 666 ha! Must be bringing the devil out in you! I really like this, I think the reflection is fantastic and nice and sharp.

Envy ….
Nice Dress! Beautifully Modelled! What good fun that is, puts me in mind of my BBQ apron, best not ask.;) Cracking shot, and a great moral code to live by….

Inverse… Wow dig those groovy trees! :wacky: That’s a great shot and when you really look into it, it really plays with your mind, sharp and crisp too… Brilliant!

Shimmer …. I think No2 really says shimmer more than No1, It’s the Bokeh that’s cracked this one.

Elements …. Quick and to the point! Fits the theme nice DOF.

Seasonalish …. Interesting colours there, dunno why but spices have always fascinated me, so like this shot…. But also love the golden Orange of the Pumpkin and I guess that’s a bit more seasonal. Like both, but I guess as Yucky Pumpkin innards are your speciality! I’ll go with that.;)

Full…. Clever…. Like my grandkids, full of beans. Very nice full of colour, and nice and sharp.

Habit…. I think you did well here with your Iphone, the B&W works well and the clouds of smoke give an additional element of interest. Also the selective vignette works well.

Covered … That’s right up my street, like covered 2 best would probably lift the foreground just a tad… Just enough to reveal the mountain line a little more …. Great Light!

Connected…. Terrible weather there then…. A speedy solution to that domestic violence then, let’s hope they keep that up. Nice to see the community getting behind it too. Personally I like the silhouette shot best something about it, gives the impression of a continuously connected line, works for me anyhow!

Down…. Looks familiar, mind you seen one staircase, Great patterns Spot on theme! Diagonals always work well.

Organised …. That’s really nice love the colours, and fits well in this thread:rolleyes::ROFLMAO: …. Sharp, Vivid and to the point what more do you need! Nice Shot Jill Love the way it completely fills the frame.

That's depressed me just realised how far I am behind:eek:
Was that a catch up or what?:)
