Bruja´s 52 (Part 2) + Texture (phew, I made it to the end)

Sorry to hear you've been so tired lately Jill. I hope that this new physio really makes a difference soon.

The sky in that shot is absolutely fantastic. Not to mention depressing when all I have to look at is cold, dull grey.
Nicely composed, good detail and bang on theme . . . although I'd still really like to see your father and baby shot (it might not quite be in the spirit of the challenge but it's one I'd love to see)

Have a fab time in Morocco

Thanks Sarah - and just for you .......

Doom and Gloom: Half full for sure - simple well lit and on theme :) I like that lots :) Another interpretation that never crossed my mind - nice one!

Communication: Your skies are soooo Blue -its an ugly structure but I guess necessary and spot on theme :)

Your father and child shot is wonderful though - lovely image :) (Its not Ross Kemp is it :))

Have a great time in Morocco Jill :) I'll be looking forward to the pics :)

Jill - I'm probably too late to wish you a good holiday in Morocco, but I hope you have a great time, anyway. I hope the osteopath has made enough difference to help you enjoy the week to the full.

The photo's spot on for the theme, and nicely composed. To say nothing of a dream sky. :)

The father and baby shot is totally gorgeous. What better from of Communication could you have. Very beautiful :love:

Have a good holiday, and give my love to the sun - I'm fed up with winter already! :)

Jean

Sorry to hear about the MS acting up. Hope you're feeling better now

Nice photo and spot on theme

Good photo - with the rich colours it looks almost like something out of a sci-fi movie. And the baby photo is just aaawwwwwwwwwwwww!

Fab sky and bang on theme, but It doesn't do anything for me I'm afraid - Sorry

Spot on theme Jill, I can't believe those skies... Be nice to see a little blue here... it's spot on theme, but I'm afraid, that it's missing something for me... no idea what though. The Father and child shot is fabulous, very well done indeed.

I hope you're feeling less tired soon Jill

Althought your first shot fits the theme so well, I'm liking the father and child shot much more...it's a really beautiful moment that you have captured, love the little baby toes just behind the dads elbow...:love::love:

Enjoy Morocco

Only just posted my communication shot, so only now reviewing what the rest of you have come up with - so hope Morocco is going/has gone well!

Regarding Communication, as you're aware, this shot is more functional than spectacular, but you have got great exposure and colour/contrast in there, so well done.

Regarding Father/Son, love the shot - I still do that with my son now, and he's three and a half, and long may it continue! :)

Thanks for the comments everyone. ;)

I'm now back in the land of the living after a week in Morrocco then a week in bed to recover :( but it was a great trip and well worth it. I'll post some pics when I get around to sorting them out.

I promise I'm going to catch up with you all this week and later today I'm going to post my Self and Organised pictures.

Welcome back Jill. Glad you had a good week in Morrocco... Sorry to hear about the wipe out afterwards...

Take your time Jill...

I'm sure it will be worth the wait...

Ps...Nice to have you back...

Sorry I'm late :(

These pictures were taken in Morrocco a couple of weeks ago with my little Canon Ixus as I didn't want to take my 'big' camera with me as I felt it would be too obtrusive for candids

SELF

This is what I felt like when I got back. A shadow of my former self

But it was well worth it :D

ORGANISED

4140684440_56458869d7_o.jpg

This was an unexpected find, and taken just outside of Fes. As we were heading through the countrside towards the city we saw a reservoir and decided to try and find a way to get to it. We finally asked a policeman (There are many police on the roads in Morrocco) and after about 20 minutes arrived at the lakeside.

This is one of the sights that greeted us.

There is a great lack of water in the countryside so they've evolved a system that uses the 'fresh' water in the reservoir to prepare and wash their vegetables before sale. They pick the carrots early in the day when it is cooler and load them onto the van which then takes them to the reservoir. Once there they cut the tops off the carrots and then wash them clean in the water. The carrots are then neatly organised in boxes and have water constantly poured over them. They end with a layer of wet newspaper on the top and then the carrot greens on top of that. Load them up into the van again (where the driver has been having a nap on a blanket in the back whilst all this was going on) and then off to sell them.

Hi Jill welcome home...

I like the Self shot simple but bang on theme...:clap::clap:

Organised... I love the top of the shot but find the lower half a bit dark on my monitor...:'(

But it's a great shot all the same and a great capture of the day...

Welcome back Jill

Very good self shot there, very simple.

Organised, they sure are organised. I like it a lot, but agree with Marcus it's a little dark at the bottom. I had thought they were fish, rather than carrots though

Welcome back - glad you had a good time!

"Self" - good, nice, simple adn to the point.

"Organised" - I really like the composition and the colours in this one. A lovely shot which fits the theme really well :clap:

Hi Jill welcome homeThanks Marcus

I like the Self shot simple but bang on theme...:clap::clap: Well I thought you'd already seen quite enough of me this year

Organised... I love the top of the shot but find the lower half a bit dark on my monitor...:

But it's a great shot all the same and a great capture of the day... Or a great catch? :naughty:

Welcome back Jill Thanks John

Very good self shot there, very simple. That's me, 'simple'

Organised, they sure are organised. I like it a lot, but agree with Marcus it's a little dark at the bottom. I had thought they were fish, rather than carrots though So did we as we were driving towards them :)

Looks OK on both my monitors , but here's a slightly lighter version for you.

I had such a good time I've got nearly 500 pics to sort through

Glad you like the pictures ;)

Welcome back, Jill. It sounds as though your had a good, but tiring holiday. :)

Shadow of your former self - brilliant! I'm trying to work out whether your shadow was on a wall or on the ground. Whichever - I like it.

Organised: So I'm not the only one who thought they were fish at first. It just shows the power of suggestion and the importance of location. By the water = fish! Simple! I never knew so much could go into organising carrots. A great shot, very well spotted, and I think there should be a caption to say what the chap on the far left and the one second right are saying about you. :D

Jean

Welcome back!

Nice work on both! Think we've had a self portrait from you before too, so I'm willing to overlook your cleverness to avoid another one

Welcome back Jill!

Self : Such a clever interpretation and I'm not going to moan about not getting to see what you look like because we've already had a few self portraits.
I thought the shadow was across the ground, but after reading Jean's reply I'm starting to wonder whether it's actually a wall
Either way it works really well !!!!

Organised : Not sure about the brightness. Looks absolutely spot on at home, but I sneaked a quick peek on here at work today and it was a bit dark at the bottom on my work screen - so I can understand what the others might be seeing.

Anyway, as I said, it's perfect on my laptop - with the added advantage that I could spot that they were carrots straight away!
I just needed to read on to understand why there were boxes of carrots stacked there because I was starting to doubt my own eyes.

Great interpretation of the theme . . . and a unique one too. I can't imagine anyone else coming up with organised carrots
I love the colours in this shot and the background scenery is absolutely stunning.

Self, I agree with Sarah a very clever interpretation

Organised, looks fine on my monitor and I assumed they were fish as well. Just goes to show how we can so easily be deceived by our own senses! A great shot and story!

Welcomr Back Jill...love the shadow idea :) nicely done and a good interpretation!

And the 'fishermen' (yep I thought they were fish too :)) is a great spot and great interpretation too - muchas zanhorias :D

Nice duo :)

I like the simplicity of self . well done

Organised...bang on theme

Thanks everyone and glad you like them ;)

Sounds like I could have used the picture for confusion as well

It's amazing how the brain can be deceived by something out of context (Damn, that was another theme :D)

On a slightly different note, apologies for not catching up with you all yet. 2 reasons; a) I'm in bad with a bad cough and b) my Internet connection is currently rubbish and won't download pictures and it's not getting fixed until tomorrow (at least I hope it is) so I've had a doubly frustrating week.

The upshot is I'm probably only going to comment on Self and Organised and Confusion in my catch up as it feels too daunting to go back a month. It's a shame as I've pretty much kept up with you all since the beginning but it can't be helped, so please don't take it personally :nono:

Talk to you soon

Can't think of a thing to do
Oh no, what can I say
Never thought I'd be this way
Fighting for inspiration
Up till now it's been OK
So what's gone wrong
I lost my way
Over tired and under pressure
Never mind, next week'll be better

CONFUSION

4160109804_53ceab2021_o.jpg

Not much to say this week except why are they saving the horrible themes for the last few weeks :( :bang: :bonk:

I'm confused :runaway: :runaway:

And this is me waiting for an idea to come to mind :tumbleweed:

Couldn't agree more on the themes... it's been a tough two weeks.

Your shot made me laugh though, it's well taken and certainly would be confuse the diner!

Mark

I love it Jill...

Makes mine look a bit naff...

and great minds think alike...

Saw this on flickr and loved it :) Simple and well executed Jill and took a moments thought from me before the penny plummeted :) (Yeah I'm slow :D)!

Before I get onto the picture...

Jean... SSSHHH!!!!!!! Don't say a word :rules:

Now, a good poem Jill, and what a cracking shot. Very simple, very clean, bang on theme and with strong vibrant colours, a big  from me.

Nicely shot and great tie in with the theme. Would have been nice to see some parsley floating in the soup (ok, that is nit picking!) : )
Love the shot though. The way you have lit it is fantastic. The white plate really stands out against the red/orange soup which really stands out against the black background.

love your self and organised but confused really takes it for me, fantasticly done and really fits the theme :D

Thanks Mark, it's always good to make someone laugh.

Cheers John, as long as you were confused for a moment then it worked
