Brown trousers ... my biggest decision, ever!

Well, I've done it ... just handed in my notice at the day job so that I can concentrate on running LensesForHire full time.

Pretty scary.

I would suggest that the first thing customers see, ie. the very top of your web page, needs a re-design, by a pro web-site designer.
It would be worth every penny

I do hope the business is a resounding success  Wish I'd have thought of it first :bang:

 Very best of luck Stewart

I gave up a very comfy, well paid job 6 years ago to start my own business and it was one of the scaryiest things I've ever done - talk about leap of faith  It's turned out to be the best move I could have made :). I'm sure you'll look back in years to come and think the same ;)

Wishing you all the very best Stewart... can I make a suggestion to you please.

OK, I know that the number of Olympus users on here are far fewer than Canon and Nikon users... but if you were to start offering Olympus lenses for hire, and after all - Olympus have some of the best glass out there - I can guarantee that you'd get many more customers.

Watcha say?

Stewart, all the best, your business model is perfect for the current economic climate, I think you could definately get some milage from the fact it's far cheaper to hire than buy angle at the moment. I think provided you focus on the important things (i.e. the customers) you'll do very well.

Given your market segment appears to be hire to the serious amature have you thought about branching out in to hiring flash units, especially wireless ones and ones that can take big battery packs (e.g Quantum) such as the SB800 from Nikon or the 580 EXII from Canon. Both are pretty much compatible with all Nikon / Canon cameras and as they are a couple of hundred each it's something that I am sure people would think about hiring in if they need an extra one for a project rather than go out and buy. You could even sell lighting gel packs to go with them (check out www.flashgels.co.uk to see what I mean).

Nice one Stewart.. Give it all you can and it'll be worth it im sure.. You're doing a grand job as it isso far as i can see!! lots of very happy customers!!..

Best of luck mate..
