I want to take a few shots of my niece (8) and nephew (14) both seperately and together as a surprise for my sister and her husband for Christmas. Some suggestions of set-up/posing for brother and sister of this age would be great as this is the first time I'm trying this. Currently looking at studio light kit to help (any suggestions greatfully accepted btw). Thanks

I would go with the advice I heard on a video of a famous child photographer from America. She takes a 5D with a 50mm lens, no flash, no studio kit, no boundaries. She spends a good hour or more playing with the child/children, camera right out of sight. Lets them take pictures with the camera too! Then, when they're totally happy with her being there, she takes pictures using available light and they are nothing short of breathtaking. She makes the important point that, especially when dealing with children, you can get away with a little motion blur, but if there's no expression, it's worth nothing...

Ya I've tried to apply it myself and it's great method. Rather than using a long and being miles away from the subject, by becoming part of their world and getting them to show you their favourite things, you are privileged to share their world and capture their true character :)

Sounds interesting Rich, any idea of what this tog is called?

First time I came across her was on silberstudios.tv - got it. Her name is Lena Hyde
