I'm thinking about selling up my digital setup to shoot MF mostly skateboarding, i've got two vivitar 285hv's and one 283, how would i go about syncing these up to the bronica? would i need PC cords running to all flashes? could i do it wirelessly? Thanks

You could do it both ways, however having cables trailing all over the place would create problems.

I have a Bronica ans use it in conjunction with those cheap yongnuo, or similar, wireless flash triggers which work well. Obviously you'll need some form of flash meter to get the best as the cheap ones hove no TTL capability.

You'd need to be careful with the trigger voltages of your Vivitars as most wireless triggers can only handle 12v, many 283s and 285s (including some HV versions) put out 300+ volts......

If the 285HV's are made in Japan (look on the bottom of the flash), then be careful as the early 285HV's did have a sync voltage of over 250V but later ones and those made in Korea, Malaysia and China have a relay that limits the voltage to about 6V.
However some ordinary Japan 285's (non HV) have this as well so the only way to find out is to test the voltage with a meter. I tested mine across my oscilloscope and it came out at about 8V.

i've got cheap ebay wireless transmitters, they work fine with all my flashes.. i wouldn't be too bothered if they fried as they cost under £30. does the bronica have a hot shoe? so i'd simply mount it exactly the same?

I don't believe the SQ-Ai has a hotshoe, just a PC sync port. The SQi Motordrive/grip does though. My Rolleicord doesn't have a hotshoe either, just a PC sync port and I managed to find a workaround by using a cable to connect the PC sync port of the camera to the 2.5mm jack socket on my Skyports. Not sure if your triggers have a jack plug socket so you could do the same or of course if it's a practical fix for you and how you shoot?
