Just loaded up my film into the camera and the prism finder flashes red to the left hand side which the manual says is over exposure warning? I'm in A mode on the prism finder so shut the aperture down and pointed at the floor and it was still saying the same? Have I missed a step to make it talk to the camera body and work properly?!

Thanks

Sounds a bit weird. I assume this is for an ETRS/i? If you have it set to 'A' mode then the lights inside should stay lit when you half-press the shutter, they should only flash when you're in 'M' mode (I think). Does the same happen when you press the little AE-II button on the front of the prism? All I can think at the moment is to try and clean the contacts and see if that fixes it.

After reading online with others with the same problem it appears the issue could be poor storage and the contacts going bad by the light sensitive cells, thus the over exposure problem or the camera itself. As the camera is firing and the circuitry doing what it should do regarding speaking with the lens and altering the shutter speed then I'll sell it for spares when I have another finder for the camera ;)

What is the ASA set to?

It might be worth giving it a twirl :)
The contacts under it can get gummed up too.

Worth a try. I seem to remember that some film cameras are more affected than others - Yashica and Olympus rangefinders.
Ah well, at least you had some exercise :)
