Broncolor teaser

Picture one shows what looks like the side of a standard reflector, picture two shows a reflector with what looks like a mount for a pivot clamp along with a display, a test button and some kind of dmx socket, picture three shows what looks like the bottom of the thing shown in the first two photos but it has feet (suction cups?) and picture four shows what looks like a fabric softbox with LEDs and some kind of lens in the middle.

I'd actually think they're different products or it's modular but it's pretty good teaser, I couldn't say with any certainty what it is even with all the hints dropped.

Anyway, let's assume it's an LED beauty dish/softbox as that's what the latest photo looks most like, why would it be marketed under "Discover the invisible" ?

Cool tool :) Every well-heeled archaeologist will want one. But how many of those are there?!

Indeed, I can't see it breaking into 3 figure sales any time soon but on the other hand they don't have to worry about Godox rocking up and stealing the design 5 minutes later.

It feels like they got the marketing the wrong way round though, while it's a very cool talking point surely the LED F160 is going to be the more profitable product?

Used to be many when it was a hobby of the well healed ;) Would have loved to play with that when I was still at the NHM...

But Tutankhamun's mask wouldn't fit under it.

It isn't about potential sales figures, it's all the mistaken belief that some high priced manufacturers have that demostating their capability will save them from oblivion.

Bron is really just reflecting the decline of the professional sector - that's what's heading for oblivion, if it hasn't already got there. Those who are left are from the pre-digital and pre-internet heydays, but nobody has Bron-style cash to splash in the run-up to retirement :(

That's exactly right.
My guess is that Bron may be able to continue with their tiny niche market, but that ALL other manufacturers will be gone soon.
Godox are already in a monopoly position, selling more products than all other manufacturers combined, and once they have no competition we will have no choice and they will be able to charge what they like...

I can see my place buying a couple of the D50s, assuming the software works well and the photogrammetry is well implemented. The software will be more important than the hardware. Have used regular LED floods and a turntable to produce high res photogrammetric models of small scale rock fractures, this D50 will allow a similar result but in a fraction of the time. The fossil bothering community will be keen as well I suspect.
