I used my Redsnapper tripod for the first time since getting one in October. After a couple of times of extending and collapsing, one of the legs came completely out and will now not stay in place. I've taken it apart to try and work out how it goes together but am not having much joy.

Has anyone else had this, and if so how did you remedy it? I'm a bit p'd off considering it's the first time I've ever used it.

I managed to do this too by screwing the clamp out too far - managed to put it back together though and it's been fine since - used it quite a few times with no problems.

I can't really remember exactly how I put it back together I'm afraid but it's definitely possible.

Obviously put the twist lock onto the lower leg first! (Can you tell that I didn't do that! :D). The large plastic washer goes onto the lower leg first with the raised rim bottom most, then the smaller ring followed by the last ring. The two plastic halves then fit onto the end of the thinner tube with the circular lugs in the circular cut out in the tube. Then in the larger tube there are two raised grooves, you can feel these with your finger. The two gaps left between the plastic halves fit into these grooves. Tighten up the twist lock to secure it all and you're sorted! :)

N97 to the rescue!:

This happened to me - thanks to Rojin from OCUK for the demo here, just don't unscrew everything too far.

I feel a bit better now knowing I'm not the only that has done it! It does clearly state on the instructions not to fully unscrew the legs, but did I read the instructions...

I carefully fully unscrewed one of the other legs without pulling it out completely to see how it went together. I managed to get it back together ok and it's been fine since...

Hmmm, there's a piece or two there that I don't know if I still have. I wonder if they do spares.

Why don't you pm Joe (user name Redsnapper), he's a member on here. Or email him from his website.

He's a very nice guy with excellent customer relations. He'll sort this out for you.:)

Hi Dave,

Like Luke suggested in his post, i would phone Joe up and discuss with him. I had an initial, minor, problem with the one i bought and sorted it, but Joe offered to supply the part should i ever have any problems with it in the future.

If you have any doubts look at the testimonies throughout this forum; definitely not a "you have bought it the problem is yours" type of company.

Cheers,

Tracey

Just been pointed to this thread - the rings in this image are in the wrong order. The one with the flat outer surface that is near the two parts being held on should be between the other two rings.
Joe

Cool

Thanks for the note!
Perhaps you could add something to the paperwork/leaflet that shows the order of the rings, save quite a few of these threads?
