Broken iPhone - will Apple replace?

Plan to head to Apple store later today with wifes iPhone 5SE. She took it in the other day as it was restarting itself, sometimes once a day, other times half a dozen. Thurs night it died and when it restarted the screen wouldn't work to enter code. It was bought late March/early April last year so outside of 1 year warranty, although you would expect a phone costing £400 or so to still work a year and 4 months later. Anyone else got a phone replaced with say a refurb from Apple in similar circumstances, tried to read the consumer act but not very clear on this.

Got a 5S doing exactly the same thing, even to the point it was blue screening on a reboot so couldn't use it at all. Out of warranty they wanted up to £275 to fix/repair, couldn't give me a quote without taking it apart. Mine as 3 years old though so didn't chase it up any further. After about 30 reboot cycles it finally stayed on long enough to do a system restore from the PC.

Back when I had my 3GS, I took it into an Apple store as it had developed a fault (it was 2 years old). They could find the issue so they replaced it for free.

I had the similar problem with my iPhone 5 a few years ago and Apple replaced it even though the phone was over two years old at the time.
