Over the weekend I noticed a crack in the display screen on my D3000... is it going to cost a fortune to replace? :(

It isn't affecting the camera at all, all still works and I can see the display etc but BUMMER

Is it the LCD unit itself broken or just the glass that protects the screen. If it's the glass it is simple enough to replace yourself.

IF the actual LCD is cracked in any way the display will have black all over it and be ruined. If there is a crack over the screen and the display is not affected then it is the COVER of the LCD. The cover can be bought direct from Nikon and is very cheap. The glass cover for a D1x was £14 for example so a plastic cover for another model is likely less than £10.

My camera is about 8 months old and I have no idea when it happened! Doh!

It's just the glass cover, the screen seems fine.

That's excellent news, thanks all, might have a bit of trouble replacing it myself though lol

Hi all, I know this is an old post but I still haven't resolved the problem with my screen, when I look online all I can find are screen protectors not an actual LCD screen...

Could anyone let me know where I could get one and possible send me a link.

Much appreciated :)
