I belong to a small camera club with a set of Courtenay lights, one of the lights has stopped flashing through the light sensor, works ok with wireless triggers plugged in direct but wont trigger when the other light is used.

We would like to get it repaired anyone know anywhere in the North East that could do it? or even anyone know what parts we would need to buy, I reckon I could probably replace the sensor if thats all it is. Im not scared of soldering!

Cheers

I can't answer your question but...

You can get plug in slave cells, in the old standard 6.5mm diameter jack plug fitting. I can't see any on Ebay right now but they do exist, this seems to me to be the obvious answer, especially as the old Courtenay lights (from memory) have 2 of these sockets on the back

Thanks for the tip, we currently let 4 togs at a time use them if we have a model in using wireless triggers ( 2 in each light) we are restricted to 2 at a time now though, I have suggested getting a wireless trigger with 4 senders from Deal Extreme for the club, would cost about £40. The 6.5mm jack idea would be a much cheaper way, I'll see if I can get hold of one somewhere.

I wouldn't mind betting that and old set of Courtenay flash heads have a fairly high trigger voltage. When I puchased an optical slave recently to work with my old Metz CT60 I puchased one that was ok up to 100v.

I use 5 courtenays in my studio they are 18v –ve so rf602 triggers work fine but you have to put a crossover of terminals in the leads

Give MrCad a call about the Condor Flash Balls and see if they have these in stock - if you feel £40(ish) is OK to keep the unit going?

Thanks for the replies guys,
I'll take these along to the club with me tomorrow night. :-)
