Anyone know roughly how much it would cost to have a body replaced on a 1Ds? Mine got knocked over whilst on the tripod and it cracked the magnesium case:thumbsdown::thumbsdown:. it still works perfectly, but fear that it will affect the resale value as i would dearly love to replace it with a 1Dx when they come on the market.

Wouldn't worry claim it off the photo / insurance

I did a similar thing with my 7d, claimed it off my house insurance. However to have the top plate of my 7d fixed was only £180 including a full checkup and service after the accident.

WoW you shock me magnesium case can't be that strong don't waste your money on the 1Dx if it was that easy to crack it, but to your story your tirpod can't be that good also IMHO

Depends on how it fell/what it fell onto. The casing isn't meant to be fully drop proof, you add armour for that.

Contact Canon at Elstree. They should be able to give you a quote over the phone. Suspect it wont be cheap though.

Probably an insurance write off, I dropped mine a few years ago and was given a 1dsmk3 in it's place.
The cost of repair would be more than the value of the camera.

Ok not as top qualityy but beat this, I bought a 10D pre owned 12 years ago from Jessops £150, it was stolen this year, (well I liked it) and it was replaced with a 60D,

Who doesn't have insurance.
