Just a quick question.........

I have a Three broadband dongle. All other things being equal, would it send data any quicker if connected to a USB 3.0 port rather than a USB 2.0, or wouldnt it make any difference?

Thanks in advance for your help

Nope - it would only make a difference if the bottleneck was the USB interface, but the speed limiting part is the 3G/HSPDA connection itself. There is sufficient bandwith with USB2.

I would say both ports would work out the same. 3G doesn't run fast enough to saturate either port so I wouldn't worry about it.
