Nope.
This is not normal!
Do you have an ADSL microfilter?
Do you have a microfilter attached to both the router and phone? You need a microfilter on anything connected to the phone line even if it is in another socket. If you do have one on all used sockets, you need to make sure they are good quality. The ones that have tails tend to be better than the all-in-one moulded ones.

Essentially the micro filter separates the frequencies for voice and adsl. It's normally the act of starting/terminating a voice call that disconnects adsl for some reason, I suspect something is sent to the exchange on an overlapping frequency that adsl uses.Nailed it! Just checked again and the socket that the phone is connected to doesn't have a filter! It did have but it looks like someone's been fiddling.
I'm surprised that the broadband works whilst the phone is being used though.![]()

I have BT infinity, superb servce and speeds. Highly recommend it if you can get it in your area.
Connecting/disconnecting a call puts a DC voltage on the line. The sudden spike in DC puts some high frequency noise on the line disturbing the ADSL.It's normally the act of starting/terminating a voice call that disconnects adsl for some reason, I suspect something is sent to the exchange on an overlapping frequency that adsl uses.
