British weather!

Don't forget when it is hot and sunny it often causes a lot of haze which ruins shots.

Well I probably should say this out loud but I don't think I've had a wedding this year that didn't have rain for at least part of the day and usually around photo time.

If only I hadn't told that gypsy I didn't want her lucky heather, I swear she's cursed me

I think I'll head off to the gym later. There's a boxing club there and I'm OK to go and grab some pics there anytime. That time might be now, it's piddling down here!

On the other side of the coin, it's also not much fun when it's 35 degrees C and burning bright sun!! Too hot to go anywhere in the car and if you do, all the animals and birds are hiding and all the flowers are wilting :bonk:

It's quite true. I'm looking out now and although it's well in the 30's we've got a fair share of haze. I can hardly see Gibraltar over the water...

The grass isn't always greener you know (though there's NO way I'd move back to the UK :D).

Lol, I certainly wasn't expecting so many replies in this thread.
My youngest stepdaugher, eldest and husband paid us a visit so I had an excuse to take some portait shots.
The youngest had a hangover and both complained about lack of make up.
I told them natural beauty is so much better so they let me snap away :)
We then went up to muswell hill broadway for lunch so I took the camera with me and suprise surprise, it rained all the time while we were there!
There's nothing exciting about taking pictures through a window at the Slug & Lettuce even with the rain.

Yesterday wasn't too bad here in North Devon. I was looking at the management of some grassland and planning to return over the weekend to photograph butterflies. However, the weekend is here and the weather is appalling, it's like November, blowing a gale, cold and very wet. I think I'll scan some slides instead.

To be honest, the weather was one of the top few reasons we decided to up sticks and move out here. It's not so much the bad weather - it's the unpredictability of it, almost impossible to plan ahead with any certainty :(.

I feel for you, but it is an opportunity to think about different subjects that might be suitable for you to learn your new skills on (trying to put a positive slant on it).

Don't let it get you down - for photography anyway ;)

Cheers,

Neil

I feel a TP meet coming on!

Agreed. Its wet, so? Its still light out. Its completely overcast here and raining, I'm still off out later.

Ok, how do I take shots in the rain, without getting a wet camera/lens? I can't afford to buy a new one and a 400D definitely is not waterproof.

A waterproof cover would do the trick.
However, I've spent enough cash on photographic kit this month and my other half would have me sleeping in the garden shed if I even think about spending another penny :D

Without getting wet? Not a clue. I always get wet and I don't care. My 30D has been through everything. No weather we've had in this country in the past 2 years has stopped me. Lens hoods are handy.

I went to Cornwall a couple of weeks back and came home early :( because the weather was so dire - never done that before :( Got back and had a few nice days then the rain set in again!!! :bang::D

I was there the week before you, in exactly the same place, Crantock.
It chucked it down the week before and during the drive down, but for the seven days I was there, it just blazed constantly, didn't even rain at night, I was burnt to a crisp.

It's not just that the weather is bad, its the uncertainty, I mean, when the weather dude say's it's gonna be nice, its still only a 50 50 shot, you couldn't plan a beach costume shoot with sun and blue sky's, with even a gnats nut hair level of confidence..

Nice shot Pete! Think I'll play safe (yawn) for now though. I need to master shooting in the dry first :)

Well, my living room light is on and it's absolutely ****ing it down at the moment. One of the heaviest rainfalls I've ever seen:shake:

My 300 2.8L IS has been snug in my Kata HB-205 for well over a week now. Can't wait to give her some serious use, but at this rate........she'll never wake up from hibernation:lol:
